Hey guys. First time posting. Really excited about this project just because of how fast it turned around.
My good friend is taking part in runDisney's Avengers Super Heroes Half Marathon as a St. Jude Hero. She and her running partner are going as Thor and Loki.
I volunteered to help her out by designing and crafting Loki's horns as clip on for her headband. The idea was that it had to be scaled down and light.

Although there would be some areas to improve upon in the design, time is not on my side. Besides, she liked this design off the bat.
Although, I asked her for a measurement from brow to brow for scale, she provided me a number that I should have probably realized was too large.
I went ahead and 3d printed it. After a night of deconstructing the printer head and reassembling it together due to some nonsense, the next day I had a print.
11/07/14 Fresh off the heated plate.
This is when I realized it was too big because it is also larger on my head versus the original concept. Still looks really cool and is pretty light. P.S. I totally nailed the scale she provided.
Non the less, I carried on with sanding it down and painting.
Something I picked up from painting miniatures, I primed the model white and then darkened the low areas with gray. Then applied white primer once again to even out the gray so it is not as drastic. Base coating in gray scale usually lets me get away with a range of colors with only 2 coats via airbrush. I continued to apply the first coat with my airbrush. I am pretty pleased with the tone of the color so far. Very comic-booky, I'd say.
