Lightsaber advice.

They are 'popular' and people who dont any better blindly follow them.

MANY people who have been in the scene for a long time know of their BS practices..

They personally owe me THOUSANDS of dollars... They are just thieves, morally corrupt dirt-bags IMO..

Stand on the shoulders of others, steal others work and ideas, ... never acknowledge others have done what they 'claim' to have done. Just all around scum. (spit)..

Most of the 'bog dogs' in the saber scene do not deserve the money or respect of the public.

They used to have forums/threads dedicated to making fun of customers (because they had questions,. or were as familiar with X, Y, Z)..... then turn around and gladly take your money with a smile on their faces.

They all let GREED take front and center instead of morally correct choices. (as long as they get money, they will trade loyalty and friendship)..

Just all -around- crappy people.

Thats one of the reasons i'm making my own Saber and my own neopixel (or my version) blade too. If it all fails there is only me to blame. Starting next week with a Luke ROTJ green saber and go from there.

it IS a very rewarding experience to build your own and ignite it for the first time.

and... only THEN can you say your training as a Jedi is TRULY complete.

Me either..

As a company.... and Tim as a person..... stand up/trust worthy guy IMHO..
And to add that he is willing to make custom parts, at very reasonable prices. Heck out of curiosity I asked if I could get a completely custom machined saber, not just some custom MHS parts. And I was told they would do just about anything. And bonus, if he really likes what you asked for, he'll offer it in the store.

honestly I kind of wished I'd known this before spending tons of time researching the MHSv1 threads so I could get a tap and die for it to machine my own compatible components. All because TCSS only offered aluminum and I didn't know Tim would do custom stuff!

I fashioned a TCSS / custom part hybrid doing this:

Amusingly it IS loosely based on a design of Rob's at GCS that I liked. But with my own flair. (It's unfinished)

Plus there are ways to use TCSS parts in unique ways to make the parts you need without having to have them custom. I was inspired by the customization done by Eastern57 on his saber hilts. He's made some really cool hilts that way.

Speaking of TCSS I requested a customized part and not only did Tim make it, he now offers it as a regular part in the store. I've been a customer at TCSS since 2005 and they have never steered me wrong. LOVE TCSS!

I think I just fell in love with the GCS Badaxx. The design is powerful and classic - like a S&W N-frame revolver.

I'm going to get in on Rob's next run.

Does anyone know anything about Starfall Sabers? They have some really pretty hilts.

Hi, all. I’m coming out of lurker mode momentarily to ask a question. I’m very interested in buying an empty hilt and assembling it from good parts. Here’s my problem...

I’m taking notes every time I see a new product name or company and it’s occurred to me I still don’t know exactly what I need (part list) or how to wire it up. I’m ok with electronics but I would love to watch an assembly video.

Back I can tell, I need:
  • Hilt
  • Blade (this is the new pixel bit, right)
  • Sound board (like a cf10) - does this also drive the lights?
  • A chassis to fit it into
  • A momentary switch
  • An other switch
  • A board that allows the momentary switch to ignite the blade?
  • Battery and charger
  • a clue

Am I on the right track? It sounds like generally TCSS is the go to for parts, huh?
    thank you very much

TCSS is a GREAT place. And also a great place for beginners to learn/play around with the parts before purchasing. (I believe they have or are in the middle of designing a new Saber Builder app...)

The soundboard you choose will dictate a lot of what you need and the specs (switches/types, battery..etc).. so decide on that first perhaps?

CF's do audio and led driving...

Shouldnt* need another board (AFAIK) for using a momentary switch to turn the board/power on..etc

Recharge port, charger, wires in the right gauge, accent LEDs, resistors, heat shrink, heat gun, soldering iron, solder, band-aids for when you burn yourself, a bazillion hours on the fx-sabers and CSS forums.... um, that oughta get you started. :)

Edit-

Helping hands, dremel, tap and die set, patience, deep pockets...

Gonna want to start here....

TCSS slso has their new Modular Wiring System, its literally plug n play.

Thank you for those tips and links, I appreciate it. I would LOVE if TCSS had a visual builder, that would really help. I’m not even sure the difference between their two hilt versions. Also, I saw those wire harnesses but couldn’t tell what they work with.

I’d very much like the neo pixel blade and the card with the best options as far as motion, sounds and changing light colors. Basically I want an amazing saber that I can change to any sound/color because I’m horrible at decision making.

BUT, first things first, I’ll study those videos.
