Light & Magic ILM documentary series

Watching that ILM trailer brings back that whole entire reason when I was in 7th grade, where I wanted to make some type of sci-fi movie. I was building some ships out of legos, and others out of cardboard.
That one was the Star destroyer that took 20 years to actually finish.
By 8th grade, I had a whole ton of ideas how to film parts, but no idea how I was going to ever edit it.
In the end, I did film some parts with the lego ship, and then a few years later filmed myself in front of the tv with a recording of around the house.
I had then finally edited it all together some years later, but just 3 years ago I redid it all and added some sound effects.
Its only about a minute, but that minute is what now has me editing videos, photoshoping, sound design, compositing, and more.....and its totally because of George and the team from ILM.

I’ve watched the first 2 episodes, it’s really great. Nice to see the Kenobi stunt saber featured in the first segment.

In the second episode they keep showing clips from the original ANH that looks high-def, possibly 4K, not the SE version. Does ILM have a high-def version of ANH? I can’t imagine they would be using a fan edit in this documentary.

I watched the first three episodes and it was fun to see the behind the scenes building of ILM from the ground up, and hearing all of their stories. But there’s not much new information here that wasn’t shown in Empire of Dreams. I’ll keep watching nonetheless.

I’m on the last episode now

The Taunton fur is by far the most disgusting thing I’ve ever heard

One of my biggest fears in life is maggots… can’t even look at them

Maggots
Wood tics (terrible fear of getting in in your belly button)
Fires..

My biggest bugaboo’s…

On occasion we've had foot specialists use maggots to clean people's feet when they've had medical problems down there. They munch on all the dead skin and flesh and are then all washed away leaving it clean.

Can book you an appointment if you wanna. ;) :p

(Hope nobody's having lunch right now btw)
