No toes though, sorry ;)
I did e-mail HCG though informing them of this....not as a complaint but to at least get it on their radar.

I can honestly say that all the displeasure of the droop is disheartening. I would expect no less though, it's human nature to complain loudly about what's wrong and ignore what's right.

It was apparently the factories attempt to mimic the slope of the thompson barrel and it seems that to some this is an unacceptable explanation.

The final solution relies solely on HCG but as a representative I can say that from a business standpoint replacing or repairng guns is not practical.

As it stands the only solution will be undamaged return and refund.

Honetly all complaints aside I'm rather disheartened at the lack of compliments. I'm quite prepared to pull the "Metal shrouds for under $1000" card if need be but I fear I'll only be shouted down.

I received mine yesterday. It's the OD version and at first I didn't notice anything wrong. I was so excited to finally own the prop I've been after for over 15 years. After seeing the droop post I took a closer look and at first glance I thought there could be a slight drop but after I put a level on it lining up the cocking bolt and barrel it almost perfectly level. I for one am extreamly pleased with this replica. Of course owning a real Spas Cage, grip, Remington and various SD parts I'm really interested in seeing more info on pulling the shroud off ... although I don't think I would ever have the stones enough to do it myself. :lol

Matt.....you're right....I've only focused on the negative!!
Droop aside (if it was on purpose then I wasn't aware, but if it was then I'm fine with it) the shrouds, receiver, stock and magazine are REALLY REALLY nice. They're clean, crisp and the weight is fantastic....I thought it would be a lot heavier.

This will be displayed so unless HCG has a fix (which like you said is not really do-able) then I'm still happy with this piece.

And shouting down or not....metal shrouds of this quality for under $1k is a steal!!!

Can you post a picture for comparison?

I'm know this replica has had a lot of work great work done to it, and I know that every step that was taken to ensure that it would be affordable, but this droop thing is a pretty big issue for me. It was not in the pictures on the official website, and it was not on the prototype that was shown on the HCGPR2009 video.

I'll most likely return it. I don't want to waste $900 on something I'm not happy with. If mine doesn't have the drop, I'll post pictures of it asap.

Hmmm.. Harrry, I see them just fine, and it seems THX does too. Must be cuz we're SF members..... Sorry amigo.. I tried to pull them out of the link. Suffice to say the PR barrel / GL is the straigtest I've seen.

LOL!! I wish that was mine! Mine unfortunately has the slope to it. The rest is absolutely beautiful.

Rick I don't see any images in your post, has something gone wrong? :s

Harry
They will not show up for anyone here unless you are logged into the Statue Forum site. RickDTM was able to see them after he posted them here because he was still logged in over there.

Received mine yesterday (OD Green exclusive) and as soon as I started looking at it, I noticed the droop. It's really pronounced on mine.

I can't understand why on earth this would be a deliberate design choice by HCG? When has a barrel droop ever been discussed as a desired quality in a Pulse Rifle design?

This is not a small detail. It's a replica gun. You'd think building all of the lines/components as straight as possible would go without saying.

Glad I own an SD.

Also, my shotgun bolt rattles and there was a noticeable flaw on my paint job.

For a model that costs close to $1,000 (with shipping), very disappointing...

Droop or no droop (and believe me, mine has it) I'm still happy with it. It's the best PR I've ever owned that wasn't $1k or over ...

Haven't received mine yet, but from the look of the droop pics mine is going back. I don't care how nice of a replica it is, that drooping barrel looks ridiculous.

Hmmm... we don't have ours yet, but since my plan was always to strip it anyway and we only bought it for the shells, I don't care all that much about the droop unless it is forced and you can't correct it when laying a new weapon and the original SPAS into the shells.

Art you should be fine. On the originals the shrouds definitely 'hung' from the assembly more than the other way round if you see what I mean.
