Let's talk Mandalorian Era New Republic Flight Jackets

You could also just get blanks or use scrap and paint it yourself like many of the the WW2 jackets.
One of the guy's I used to costume with years ago was making replicas.

That’s actually a very good idea. My first thought is that I’m not a very good free hand artist but then I considered that a lot of these designs look rough or just various lines or geometric type shapes. I think a lot about the way clone troopers decorated their armor. And if you are doing a custom design, you don’t have to be concerned with replicating specific details.

I don’t think I would use scraps, I would probably use precut circles. https://www.amazon.com/s?k=leather+circles&crid=2KXETBP6Q0JCV&sprefix=Leather+circle,aps,118&ref=nb_sb_ss_ts-doa-p_2_14

I’m not sure if has been mentioned but there are some additional behind the scenes footage of the various flight jackets toward the beginning of the Disney Gallery / Star Wars: The Mandalorian" Season 3 on Disney+. Not a lot just some quick cuts.

Was just watching, is that gold/tan Wolfpack emblem on Filoni’s right shoulder?!
I know he has His wolf patch on the jacket because it was seen in photos posted earlier in this thread…

I can’t tell what color the wolf logo it is as I fear lighting and or resolution may be a factor.

Here is a nice photo of Hera Syndulla that I have not seen posted yet.

That is 100% embroidered.

I don’t know, I still see it as being possibly split leather. Hypothetically If I were looking to do a patch replica project, I would still be holding off.

And also…

Pew! Pew!

Crap, totally missed him in the background. I'll take another look tonight see if I can grab it from the gallery series. Either way, I'm going to get one done up, I've seen a few similar designs but nothing exact. And as a side note, that bolero he's wearing is very reminiscent of Cad's live action, but without the decoration...

Ok, I have some information regarding patches made for the Star Wars series. I spoke with a person who working on various current and past shows. I usually don’t ask this person direct questions about prop/costume elements because I don’t want to ever get this person in trouble by accidentally exposing info I should not. Although this person cannot speak personally on patches previously pictured here, they can confirm that other patches were done hand painted on leather. When we talked about embroidery that person wrote back and used quotation marks regarding that embroidery does not have the Star Wars look. The fact that this person used quotation marks in his reply makes me believe that they were given design directions from above about what can and cannot be done. I purposely did not post the exact quote nor did I push for more information at that point. However I was also told that they may have wanted to do patches in PVC but they probably did not have the lead time available to have them made.

Just a little bit of information to tuck away.

Thanks.

Guess it would depend on the era you are after since the OT used embroidered and silk screened, R1 used PVC and possibly silk screened, TV PVC and leather.

Yes the Imps used nylon or vinyl that was screened.

Where on screen is that hat seen? I’ve not seen it before except for being sold at Galaxy’s Edge (except with the resistance logo) the first few years they were open.
