Wow, reading this makes me want to watch it more.But guess who lost their headphone lead extension on a trip out last night and cannot use the headphones until he gets a replacement? :S

Helmets looking great, needle files are definitely the way to go, I used one with a triangular blade it takes time and you will go cross eyed but hey it works, good luck! :thumbsup

Somebody posted something about putting sandpaper around bits of styrene. Sooooo smart, really glad somebody mentioned it. Really happy you guys enjoyed the video and I can't wait to get back to work on my helmet tonight! I'll be sure to pick up some needle files as soon as I can afford it. Just blew all the spare cash I had on some new bondo and dust masks :lol

I'd make some new ear disc things out of styrene. A circle cutter and epoxie putty would make quick work of them.

Some pointed round toothpicks with thin sandpaper wrapped around them work good or if you want to be fancy they have sanding needles: Alpha Precision Abrasives Hobby Abrasives . Of course they would load up more than a metal file, but those are still good for smoothing grooves once you have the shape you want.

For quick effective removal of skin illustrator / reel colours etc. isopropyl alcohol is great. also baby wipes are pretty effective too. just dont use the alcohol round sensitive parts or the eyes.... you shouldnt use the ink there anyhoo. for that your better withcreme based colours.
You might want to check out a make up called agcp foundations from Michealdavey.com. very very cool long lasting , hard wearing but comes off with soap and water. comes in pallettes and airbrushable Michael Davy Film & T.V. Airbrush Products
cheaper than the others too. if you check it out tell mike piehead sent ya. he wont steer you wrong.

I was just about to close the Youtube window when I caught the "Faster, Falcor!" and about died laughing. Brought back some really excellent childhood memories there, so thanks! Excellent videos, I'm looking forward to more!

If you want to, go for it. I'm there with you as most of my heroes have been women anyway: Ripley, Sarah Jane Smith, Motoko Kusanagi etc.

Although I can understand your concerns because, obviously, wanting to costume boy->girl comes with its share of social unacceptability. Sadly, I think that and a good bit of this thread expose how fandom has moved from a mutual celebration of personal interests to a year round themed mardi gras.

Back in the 80's or early 90's, had you wanted to costume as a female character, people wouldn't have thought a thing about it or would have told you how awesome it was simply because they would have understood how strongly you felt about the character. These days there's just too many joke costumes and attention seekers that moved the focus off of people that enjoy it as something personal.

Though I'm not sure that I can agree that the reaction would have been any different fifteen or twenty years ago (but what do I know, I was either unborn or way too little through all of that), I'm entirely behind the idea of guys dressing as chicks if they can pull it off. I mean, how can I say anything against it? I get all kinds of pissed when people tell me to slap some boobs on my Iron Man armor.

I get soooo annoyed to wake up to hundreds of messages every morning from MattMunson telling me to slap some boobs on my Cap outfit!! "Great work Jeff, but you know what would really bring it together, a pair of boobs" Really Matt??? Really??/
