Kurtyboy Archives, 6 Aug: help with rotj vader MOM saber

Re: My prop collection: The Kurtyboy Archives. 2nd update 3 Oct: Firefly/Serenity pre

He has it over his shoulder when he first goes to see Max Cherry with Deniro ;)

Awesome stuff, Marcus! Y'know I've seen Jackie Brown 3 or 4 times and I never realized Sam J uses a Toronto Raptors bag!

I love my WWII history as well, can't get enough of it... but I can't say I even thought about any historical differences while watching the movie!

You're talking to someone who turned off Where Eagles Dare like five mins. in because they flew a Bell 47 helicopter (I think, that style anyway) into the scene! I think it was supposed to be a German helicopter, but that was too much for me. :lol

Got the Sir Richard shield hanging from the door. Not sure how to hang the sword now.

It would look cool with the sword stuck behind the shield, of course that would hide it though.

Firefly/Serenity:

My favorites include the Cortex device, Universal Encyclopedia, Simon's baton...

I know my displays are a little cramped so if anyone wants to see any more pictures of any item let me know.

Re: My prop collection: The Kurtyboy Archives. Update 5 Oct: Firefly/Serenity

Nice Tarantino stuff. What is that little silver box with the german military insignia on it? A lighter or a match safe/vesta? Is the bat screenused?

Re: My prop collection: The Kurtyboy Archives. Update 5 Oct: Firefly/Serenity

The bat is not screen used (a bit out of my price range!) but I will eventually add the Jewish names to it.

Can't remember what the silver box was actually listed as. It seems to be real silver (has the markings) and quite old, but the nazi eagle is actually just resin painted silver and glued on. The very same eagle castings appear on other IB props.

The larger silver box underneath is Major Hellstrom's cigarette case complete with cigarettes.

Wash's Mateba is sexy! My best bet is to actually buy a real one lol

Re: My prop collection: The Kurtyboy Archives. Update 5 Oct: Firefly/Serenity

is the small box a vesta match box ???

Re: My prop collection: The Kurtyboy Archives. Update 5 Oct: Firefly/Serenity

Which small box exactly?

I did try to collect at least one of each of the different cigarette packets and matches they used. The effort the prop department went to is staggering. Apart from the metal tins these all appear to be replicas made for the movie!

Also got an ashtray to go with them (yes I have smoked a real Red Apple cigarette while I was still smoking. Had to. :lol)

The napkin is what Fredrick Zoller signs his autograph on.

A shield and a sword. On a door. Today. :cool

I just used some hooks, sticky pads and a piece of wire.

Hello, is this thing on. It's been 5 days. You must have gotten more done.

Re: My prop collection: The Kurtyboy Archives. Update 5 Oct: Firefly/Serenity

Need to buy more display cases first. Thinking of switching from Detolfs to Billys with aluminium framed glass doors.

Re: Just a quick heads up on The Kurtyboy Archives

You'll remember this sorry ass looking dude from earlier in the thread:

Well, I just couldn't help feeling sorry for him so I rebuilt him:

3-piece Rein One leather suit. 1...

3!...
vaderbuild4.jpg

Vintage German army jack boots.
vaderbuild5.jpg

Unknown leather gloves.
vaderbuild6.jpg

Gino ESB chest box.
vaderbuild7.jpg

Can't remember who made the robe but it's a little short, ESB stunt style.
vaderbuild8.jpg

GH armor with no cape hook, i.e. ESB hero style.
vaderbuild9.jpg

Artisan Props leather cod (and the ABS shins snuck in there).
vaderbuild10.jpg

Can't remember who made the belt but it was the most accurate available at the time. I upgraded it to front fastening with fully functional buckle. I also upgraded the red lamps to vintage 'almost' correct ones and the knobs are now real hi-fi buttons which still need to be trimmed down a little.
vaderbuild11.jpg

KevVader cape, finished by Cantina dude to my specs. Has the satin showing around the bottom as seen on the Executor bridge while Vader is walking away. Always liked that.
vaderbuild12.jpg

Lightsaber: Real MPP (of course!) with Gino grips, real Exactra bubbles and circuit board.
vaderbuild13.jpg

And finally, TM ESB helmet. It is still in raw state and hasn't even had the lenses cut out yet. One of these days...

Re: Just a quick heads up on The Kurtyboy Archives

I've just had surgery so won't be building anything for a few weeks, but this might be my next project. Another one of those things that has been sitting in a box for too many years.

Re: My prop collection: The Kurtyboy Archives. Update 17 Dec: Vader rebuild

Very impressive collection and great to see out of storage...my stuff is still in boxes three years on...

Re: The Kurtyboy Archives. New addition: Lewis Nixon hid something in my foot locker

Took me a while to get these. Both are vintage 1940s or 50's. The beat up one on the right is still full. Tempted.... but no!

Re: The Kurtyboy Archives. New addition: Lewis Nixon hid something in my foot locker

This was my all real parts Obi ANH saber this time last year. Only thing wrong with it was the balance pipe while being from a Derwent engine, was the opposite facing 'male' version.

Top: Original prop. Bottom: Replica

That almost correct balance pipe:

Well, today I finally got a screen accurate balance pipe after these years. Still needs the black ring and some weathering as it's in what appears to be unused condition. Most of the assembly was originally done by James Kenobi 1138. He did a great job even matching the crookedness of the original as it appears in the Chronicles book.
