JURASSIC WORLD Owen Grady Costume

I think it may come down to the individual's preference for what the perceived color is. When I was building my Captain Jack Sparrow costume, there were many times that people just had to pick their preferred reference picture for the pant's color and dye them to match. I think it will probably be the same case here. Do you want the more vibrant bluer color as seen in the raptor paddock training scene, or do you want the more earthy gray as scene towards the end of the film?

White hands, green hands, who knows...
On the watch I mean.

Regarding the Henley, obviously we've established that it's the coal miner, however the homespun ones have a marking/branding on the bottom left of the shirt, I can't see it on any images, do you think they removed it somehow or it was just lucky it was folded under?

After analizing the soles, I´m convinced they used half soles; that´s why no yellow logo and no need to paint nothing.

From what I've seen, only one variation of the Henley has the logo written on the front - it's celebrating Homespun's anniversary or something. The one in the film was the older style that didn't have the writing on it.

yes, I think it´s just a reflection; good captures anyway. To me they confirm 99% Casio GA 100
Here you can also see the Orvis is Grey.

I went with the blue, as I believe it's a good representation of what is depicted in the movie, and will be most recognizable for the character.

I am using this logic as well. I might mildly dye the blue Orvis shirt with a bit of grey, just to make the shirt look a little more worn and distinct but even that I'm not sure about, yet.

Because I won't have the exact same pants from the movie, I worry about wearing a grey shirt with grey pants and how that might look, if the shades of grey don't have the "correct" contrast or are too close to each other, or whatever. And I just like how the blue shirt and brown vest complement each other.

As for pants, after looking at/trying on some options from Dickies and Levi's, I am going to wear Denizen 216 jeans in "Gargoyle" color from Target. Mainly because: a. I don't want to spend too much on the pants for this costume since I anticipate dyeing/weathering/dirtying them up a bit, b. they have a good, even coloring so they don't necessarily look like typical denim, and c. Denizens are my usual everyday work/casual jeans (albeit in blue) and they are comfortable (they have a slight stretch to them) and fit well for me as well as looking true to the character, with the slim and straight legs. They're listed as $29.99 on the Target website but in the stores right now, they are marked down to $19.99. Just in case anyone was interested!

I agree 100%. I know the pants I purchased at Old Navy are too dark in person, so theoretically they'd probably look fine with the grey shirt; however the grey Orvis shirt might look funny with pants that are not blue enough.

I think I'll stick to my own perception until we find out for sure if the blue shirt wasn't weathered to look grey in person...

Also, those pants are great! My local Targets don't stock them of course.

Just won these Bill's Khaki 5 Pocket Trim Fit on eBay in addition to my Dockers which should arrive soon.

Something else I noticed on the J Brands that might lead to a positive ID. There appears to be a unique stitching detail on the fly flap that is present on both the J Brands and Grady's pants. Looking at a lot of other pants for reference, this does not seem to be a prevalent detail regularly used.

PS: I have now zoomed in on more picture's of Chris Pratt's crotchal region than I'd like to admit. For science!

very interesting! think you've nailed it! The boots are my next item to buy, ill be getting the eastlands and try and find the soles to get glued on. if anyone has a pair of the eastlands can you measure the inside of the boot from heel to toe please, it's obviously a pain in the ass having to ship them back if they are wrong size, unless i can obviously find a pair over here in UK.

I actually have these exact boots! Bought them for another costume haha, they are really nice. Makes me think of starting my own Owen Grady build

hey mackle, as i've posted above would you be able to do me a massive favour and measure your eastlands for me please, and let me know what size they are.

what do you guys think about these?

They have the "correct" elastic material and fulfills the idea believed by other members that the boots are suede lether

Before that, I called my local Orvis store and the guy I spoke with had been with the company for a long time. He mentioned that the Open Air is one of their staple shirts they make every year in standard colors (red, white and the light blue), though every season they do a few special colors. The grey is the special color for this year. I did end up purchasing a medium just because I'd rather have one and have it taken in than not have one at all!

I have been thinking about the grey/blue shirt issue, and I just realized something. If grey is this season's special shirt color, when does the season actually begin? The crew filmed Jurassic World April 10 to August 5, 2014, so the shirt color would need to have been available before those dates to have been an off the rack color. If this season's grey (as I expect) was only produced this year, then it would be impossible for production to have used it.

This would beg a few questions, such as what special color was available last year, and is it possible they used the off the rack light blue and weathered it to a more grey color. This would make sense because the costume designer was quoted as saying they over weathered the shirt in the first place. Plus, though the color does look different in other listings, I'm inclined to think this may be what they did because the "Ugly Bug" sky blue caster shirt does match decently with many reference pictures I have, more so than the Orvis listing picture. It could be the sky blue color has even changed shades since production purchased theirs...

I'm still sticking to my opinion the shirt was blue, so I may be a bit biased; however we can consider this some food for thought. :p
