Art - Why did you ignore the questions at the bottom of my post?
I am not ignoring them, I just haven't responded to them yet.
Art - Why did you ignore the questions at the bottom of my post?
I am not sure I follow in regard to temporarily removing an item. The way the system works now is that an item is removed 45 days after it is marked as sold. Why so long? A seller has 15 days to ship and we assume an item can get to just about anywhere in the world in three weeks, so if there is any question about the item when the buyer receives it, the thread still exists.
Can you give some examples of what you are thinking of in terms of marking an item as being on hold?
I have to put a lot of props "On Hold" for members to save up money, wait for pay checks. etc. Many members have done it for me and I for them. It's how a lot of my props get sold. Lot's of unneeded PMs can be done away with. Even the Premium Member PM box gets full fast.
The other thing was the inability to remove a listing. For example yesterday I listed a Clonetrooper helmet. Only after I listed it I noticed two small flaws so I needed to pull the listing until I can figure out what to do. I don't like marking it sold as that's not what actually happened and someone might wonder why it's back up if it was sold, confusion, etc.
I just think a "Remove" and an "On Hold" marking option would be nice and cut down on unnecessary PMs, confusion, etc.
Why wouldn't discussion and research take place in the appropriate prop forum and the interest/run take place in the runs forum?
I have 3 projects/runs that were moved back to the deprecated Junkyard.
Why did this happen are they in danger of disappearing?
I also noticed that the Project Run Forum guidelines state that "This forum is NOT intended for research or ongoing discussion."
So where do you post Active Projects?
I also have a question about format.
Is it possible to have the “List / Galley” option that ebay uses
IMO the Galley format ( the way it is now) feels very crammed and confusing where as the list format seems more logical and in my case it is easier to follow.
You have a picture to the right , a Title that can be larger and on a single and a line of text for additional info below that.
A forum I use named Glock Talk does this and is seems to be easier to follow.
Because you are not a Premium Member. And yes, they will be gone in 60 days unless you upgrade.
Active Projects, as defined as multiple people building a similar item, can be posted in the main Props forum. You simply cannot promote sales there.
Gun Parts & Accessories - Glock Talk Classifieds
This seems easier to follow to you? It looks VERY clunky and poorly designed to me, but I suppose we all have our preferences. We are currently looking into the ability to switch between thumbnail and list views, but it is pretty low on the list at the moment.
Well, since the ROTJ Project has no possibility of wrapping up in 60 days I guess I'll have to ask the members to foot the bill for my membership
You also failed to address why you can not post research or have on going discussions in the Project Runs Forum? Who will that bother?
Considering the money you have made off this community, that seems a bit pathetic that you are going to ask for a hand-out.
As long as you are willing to lose all the information that is posted in the Project Runs forum and your only interest is making money off its members instead of posting in a place where your content will last, sure, post the research and discussion in the Project Runs forum...
Actually, let me revise my statement in my last post. You will NOT use this community to pan-handle and ask for others to pay for your Premium Membership so you can then continue to extract money from them through your runs. If we find that you did it publicly or privately, you will be gone.
First of all you have zero idea of the money I make from this hobby, in fact you are wrong, in most of my projects I make very litte
I also just spent over $500 to host a contest and I am a legacy member so don'y try to ack like I am some kind of parasite, feeding off the members of this forum.
So now you can dictate how members can cover their expenses?
PayPal fess, ebays fees, credit card fees and now forum fees are all part of the cost of selling stuff and have to be covered by someone. If I have to increase the prices of the parts I offer to cover my fees how is that not acceptable?
Given that I recall you boasting about paying for part of your house, or maybe it was the land for your house from blaster sales (pre-Master Replicas), yeah... let's not play like you are a victim here or pretend that you have not benefited financially. You are a seller. You have always been a seller (nothing wrong with that) and as long as I can remember, you have done everything you can to skirt the rules in order to increase your sales. When you start looking for others to pay the pittance that is the Premium Membership fee so you can in turn make money off of them, yes, you are acting like a parasite.
I am not dictating how your expenses are covered, only telling you not to use this platform to pan-handle.
Sure. If you want to build your overhead costs, including the cost of Premium Membership into your sales, you are welcome to do so, just like any other business would. That is different from "ask[ing] the members to foot the bill for my membership."
Active Projects, as defined as multiple people building a similar item, can be posted in the main Props forum. You simply cannot promote sales there.
YOU are incorrect.
I NEVER boasted that I paid for any part of my house with money I have made from sales on this or any forum.
Others made those assumptions and they were out right lies and now you are perpetuating them.
Seems you have forgotten about my At Cost Runs, Bulk Tool Runs (where I negotiated lower prices for tools at places like Harbor Freight) and projects that had very low profit margins, not to mention all of the projects that put me in the red.
If I didn't make a good living working as an Aircraft Mechanic I couldn't afford to run most of these projects, unless you think making a $5 profit on each Denix Mauser I sell is going to some how pay my mortgage.
Art,
Since there are usually a few people that either:
A - cannot follow the simple instructions of “do not discuss pricing in this thread” or
B - that simply cherry pick the things that they read in a post and skip over that sentence entirely
What will the staff do when somebody does in fact discuss pricing in there post?
I wish I had a screen cap of way-back-when, but I don't bother trying to keep those kind of things. It wasn't someone else. It was your own post and I'll never forget it. You posted a number of photos of you clearing land for the house and made a comment along the lines of "paid for by blasters.".
I would think mods would be above personal attacks and character assassination but apparently they are not.
I have to say I'm really not liking these new changes to the classified section of the forum. From the thumbnail view of the new junkyard to the separation of the junkyard into multiple sections it all seems detrimental to the overall usability of the forum. Instead of checking one place for whats on sale, project runs and want to buys you have to enter each section. Why? I think it ruins the user experience.
