In John Wick 2 there is a scene before the final fight scene where he goes and talks to the Bowery king and asks him for a gun and the Bowery king gives him a Kimber 1911 and the pistol comes in a really nice looking wooden case.

Through some math I figured out the dimensions of this box which are 14"x7"x4" and I wondering if any of you guys know a good way to line the box with felt so that the gun would stay in place?

Here is a link to the scene with the box in it.

Just pick a medium you want to use such as foam or wood and cut out an outline of the gun then just lay the felt over the cut out and place the gun in and glue down the felt.
    Cool project.

If you have a local Hobby Lobby, Michaels, or other art supply store nearby go in there and look around for unfinished wooden craft boxes. Look for different types of foam for the insert, and you will also find felt, velvet, and other type of fabrics that might be what you want. Don't forget to buy glue too. You probably want spray glue, or something you can wipe on with brushes.

You'll have to do the finish work yourself, but I'm sure you can find a stain that is close, and then a glossy clearcoat of some sort that will look nice all within the same store.

The clasp and hinges may not be exact to what they used on screen, but you can replace those, or just live with the differences for your first build.

If you'de rather order it from online sources: Google is your friend. ;)

Also wanted to add, if you want a nice replica of this gun, but you may not want an airsoft. For about $32 you can get this guy:

The box looks like a standard (if somewhat beat up) presentation box. Boxes like that were usually made in hard-wood, often oak, mahogany or teak. It's hard to make out the exact tone from the screen-grab, but the box looks a tad too light for mahogany, and the yellow tint indicate teak. The colour of the finished box will largely depend on staing though. Your best guide is the grain structure of the wood. Here's a nice example of a Luger box in oak:

I'd have a look at old furniture to try and find something that match in colour and shine and try to find out what wood/treatment you could possibly use.
