on a side note, me and TheRealTonyStark are working on the mechanics of making the V2 cannon move. it will flip forward and then pivot from side to side over the shoulder.

Sweet ! Although I'm a bit worried about how much it would cost. Therealstark's tech is truly awesome but tend to be quickly expensive. But if it's what it takes, so be it.

You guys are totally overthinking the helmet hinge. Try one of these. Me and a friend used it on our helmets and it worked perfect - and it gives some forward "pushing" movement too.

I'll also have the servo mounts and pivots done for the v2 in a couple of days, the new dimensions forced a redesign to fit :lol
They will be scaled to fit in at 393, but can be modified for smaller scales. I'm still building with helmet tracking, trying to reduce the false readings on the sensors. :darnkids I can put a parts price list together if anyone wants to go that route.

Irongatsu- Judging from the trailer teaser (with Rhodeys faceplate up), it shows that the two sides separate from the middle just a little bit

I had thought two brackets "L" (left and right), very similar to what is seen in photos of msleeper ... but with a pin connected to 2 points of the bracket. is a method for not using the engine mechanic.
resinous helmet today, next week I start working on the mechanism of opening and I'll show you.
some of you have thought about doing hands-ignition in motion?

I totally forget what they're called, it's a drawer hinge. I got mine at Lowes. And yeah they are so much nicer than making something custom. If I'm by the one by me soon, I'll stop in to take some pictures.

Although, brotip: Make sure you get a left AND a right one. Being the complete rocket surgeon that I am, the first time I bought them I accidentally bought 2 lefts.

I think the face plate opens like the other ones...even though it looks like it wouldn't open but if you see closely the bottom and top is slight different..I'm thinking it might be angled..i think...

Granted that is when it is not flipped up and over the shoulder, but still. it seems a bit small. The cannon length looks to be at least a foot or so long to me.

as for how to make the face plate separate slightly, i dont have a clue. It is going to take some serious engineering to pull that off. all i can think of doing is exasperating those pieces from the face plate, and putting some type of a pivot at the top most corners near the center of the mask and allow the bottom half of those pieces hang freely.

exact, is what you want to do, the pin must be in the outer part near the faceplate, so that, the front can move freely and can rotate towards the top of the helmet

Yeah I've done that more than once. I've used hinges like those on flush cabinet doors, but I didn't know they sold a style like that. Sweet!

I just went back and checked the scaling on both the paper and foam files, and they were correct.
Rough cannon length at default scale is 472mm or 18.6"
Rough Cannon length at 393.5 scale is 437mm or 17.2"
I guess I don't know where 7" is coming from? :confused

Thanks for the tip with the hinge . What's the normal use for the hinge ? I am asking so I can go to my local builders warehouse and check out if they have something like this .

They look like the hinges that are used for cupboards that open vertically and then stay open. Maybe kitchen section?

that faceplate from the military walkin, compared to rhodes faceplate are totally different, i see. theres alot more depth in the separation lines of rhodes. almost like the front faceplate is meant to dynamically break in pieces and retract somewhere.

unlike the military walkin faceplate where the front faceplate is obviously very smooth, flush lines.

which is weird because in that pic the face plate is just plainly raised up.
