Jackieisrockin's IM3 Iron Patriot Pepakura Files! V2 files coming soon!

Re: Jackieisrockin's IM3 Iron Patriot Pepakura Files! Check out page 66!

OK, I assume you are using Zabana hands. I went with a measurement of 4.53" across the palm 1/2 way between your thumb and the first knuckle of your pointer. Close paper fit would be 1.095, 1/2" foam would be 1.225.
How you build in foam will obviously affect the fit, but I accounted for the gap needed for foam between the deep ridges and the side of your hand, so you should be OK. As for the difference in measurements depending on your hand flex, I think it'll be OK. That main band around your palm and the back of your hand is the biggie to get right. If this works for you, I'll post how I did it so others can use it. Hopefully gets you a little closer at least! :thumbsup

The upper torso looks different than the file , can you explain how you made it?

Re: Jackieisrockin's IM3 Iron Patriot Pepakura Files! Check out page 66!

my writs circumference is 7.25 tight. I have small wrists but my hands are long and wide, which is why making the hands is killing me. either they are way too big or too small. i cant find a happy medium here.

laellee, also i have my servo assembly coming in from TheRealTonyStark. Ill post pictures here when the whole thing is assembled. It is going to be freaking sweet!!

I measured from one side of my palm, directly on the INSIDE of my thumb, in a straight line across to the other side of my palm and used that distance as my Point to Point measurement in Pep Designer. I did the same thing when I made the little girls gloves and they all came out pretty much perfectly. I use 3mm foam to make the gloves FYI.

Re: Jackieisrockin's IM3 Iron Patriot Pepakura Files! Check out page 66!

The way i scaled my IM gloves was fairly easy: looking at Zabana's sale thread for his awesome gloves, i noticed he said that his gloves are a size Medium in glove sizes. Knowing that i also am a medium in gloves, i PMed him asking him what scale he used for his gloves and i believe it was a 0.9 for a size medium. So if you are a size medium in gloves, a 0.9 should fit :) But for the fingers, i just measured each one (point to point measurement) to how long each one of my fingers is (0.9 for my fingers was too big.) So in the end, all of my IM fingers have different scales, but it fits great :) Hope i could help out, everyone :D

Nice, thank you for taking the time to figure that out, i will work on them tonight and get back to you tomorrow with the progress. Again, Thank You(y)thumbsup:thumbsup

That is what i sort of did, i measured point to point from knuckle to knuckle. then toyed around with the scale in pep designer until that was close. the problem i was having was i would get the width right, but then the holes for the fingers would be wrong. then today i was thinking, and i dont know why i did not think of it earlier, if i had to add to the width for the size of foam i was using.

Nice, that is pretty much what i had to do for my fingers.

If you can figure this out and make it work I think you'll be an innovator because of your foam thickness. your foam is over 4X as thick as P4r4dox86 :popcorn

lol, that would be awesome!!!

I guess i should have used a thinner foam mat:facepalm

if my math is correct, and it always is ( lol ) if it works out, my hands are going to be big! wait until i try making the helmet out of 1/2 inch, thats going to be fun:cry

on another note:

Has anyone figured out how they are going to put Chicago screws around the knee area? there doesn't seem to be any room for something like that. all i can think of is to put a arc shaped hinge there, similar to the ones you would use for the helmet, or maybe even just a foam strip on each side of the knee to create a flexible ligament so to speak.

Trying to tell from the pics, but is this made from 1/4 inch yoga mats?

Re: Jackieisrockin's IM3 Iron Patriot Pepakura Files! Check out page 66!

laellee,

That scale turned out to be very large, had too much room between fingers. I scaled it down 10% and i am trying that. So far it looks like that might work. I also switched to doubling up on some EVA foam sheets i had laying around to make it 1/8 inch. The 3/8 i was using was very sturdy like i wanted, but it could not handle the bends it needed.

Cool. That sounds like a good plan with the foam, With that thicker foam you were using, I don't think there's a solution without modifying the templates or cutting the foam back. I kind of want to try this in foam too now though :lol

@ IronLeoMan, Nice work, almost there!

Looking Fantastic man!!!

I just primed my upper and lower torso today, hoping to paint this weekend if not earlier.

So far so good. I got the knuckles done and they seem to be a lot better.

Also, has anyone ever tired to use the classic yoga mats? They seem like they would be nice to use, but they have this wired texture on them, which appears to be on both sides?

I was able to keep my torso in one piece @ 393.5, but I am also a wiry guy with a 32" waist. I could just slip into it. A couple of us had talked about running extra strips on each side (paper build), but I never heard any more about it after that.
