Hi, everyone again. I've just wanted to share my current IM2 progress.

And i have a question - how you join arms to the chest\shoudler? I've tried join them with screws, but with this tactics it was pretty uncomfortable to move.:facepalm

Its looking good so far!

Hi there, I would like to share some pics of my project.
Thanks to all the folks that shared their files, your work is amazing.

I couldn't get it anywhere near the quality of work that I see on this forum, but hopefully I do a little better next time.
I repainted the entire suit, with a darker metallic blue and red, overall I'm pretty happy with the results. Not bad for my first time using foam (I think:D).

Anyway, I "attempted" to dry brush some damage/weathering on the suit. I used silver paint to put scratches on the blue and red parts but don"t know how to simulate damage on the silver sections. The silver parts just look a little too clean to me. Any tips on how I go about that?

I got a bunch of pics posted, any kind of feedback or advice on how to improve my work would be much appreciated.
Comment on, and again thanks to everyone that takes the time to share and help out :)

I put some pics of the abs, as this is my cleanest work from this build any am pretty proud of it lol
I know the eyes are either white or a lighter red, but my son wanted red to make it look "angrier".

Lookin pretty sweet! I love Mini Patriots! :D

That's looking too awesome!

Finally, my suit is finished, here is a picture on La Mole comic.con of my suit, all in EVA foam.
Thanks Jackieisrockin's for the files, and laellee too for the canon

I love how WM looks with red eyes :thumbsup

Just got settled back in from Dragon*Con this past weekend. I was wearing my Iron Patriot painted in War Machine colors. My shoulder gun and helmet faceplate were motorized. So far I've just found one cellphone photo:

Astute viewers will notice I'm wearing the wrong legs; I ran in to the same problems I did last year with my War Machine legs, that being certain feminine areas like my thighs are way bigger than the armor is designed for. But unfortunately I wasn't able to mod them in time for the con. Compared to the War Machine armor, I am totally in love with the design and build. The chest and arms are so much form fitting. The shoulder gun fits on the body is a way more intelligent way.

I'm really looking forward to the v2 files, I honestly may pep (or CNC if @jackieisrockin is okay with that!) those to make a hard armor of this. Thanks again so much for these files jackie!

Are you kidding? I encourage CNCing! Its too cool!

Another decent shot I found in the War Machine Mk 2 paint:

Great job on the suit! It came out really cool! :thumbsup

Are you still using the old Pepakura? The new one has a Mirror Inversion that inverts both the 2D and 3D windows! No more building the opposite of the 3D model! You don't need a new serial code either, just download and use.

LOL yeah that's how lazy I am, still using the version from a couple of years ago. I guess I should probably upgrade, huh? :lol

I always get nervous when it comes to new software version releases, knowing that what I have now suits me just fine and they may change the format. I'll give it a shot though :thumbsup

**updated** and two minutes later, done and done (y)thumbsup

thank you jackieisrockin for the patriot files :thumbsup and JFcustom for the awesome unfolds. . .

Daaaang ironmaided nice work. Proportions are beautiful. It's difficult to avoid going too bulky with the War Machine and you hit it just right! I'm at the point on mine now where I'll start putting the parts together. Any advice on the knees? Yours seem to be working nicely- did you use some kind of hinge system?

thanks mate, lookin' forward to your build too :thumbsup

well about the knees. . .it's the same set-up with my mark 42, but the mobility is limited here in my iron patriot. . .and i can't sit down with it unlike with my mark 42. .

I see, thanks. Also, what paint did you use? You seem to have also hit the shade of blue just right.

I am getting close to completing this. my goal is to have it finished by Halloween. although, I am running into a few problems.
Helmet : im lost on how to get the faceplate hinged right. is the hinge the same for an iron man helmet ? it looks like the opening angle needs to be different.
Torso: Complete, just need to finish some detail work and paint
Abs and Cod Piece: its a tight fit, I can barely squeeze into it, but once im in, it fits. so im thinking about cutting it in half and doing a hinge latch set up. (which I did a hinge latch set up on the torso.) another thought is just to remake this piece out of foam for more flexibility. not sure.
Shoulders: Done, just need more sanding paint and mount to the torso
Biceps: They seem to big, they wont fit into the shoulder pieces. so I am going to remake these out of foam. using foam for these since I have done other armor and the biceps always want to seem to slide down even with foam. foam will make thim lighter and have a better fit.
Elbows: just need to sand and paint
Forearms: Done, just need paint
Thighs: need to apply bodyfiller, sand, paint
Shins: Done just need to paint
Boots: haven't even started them !
Neck : will make out of foam, haven't started
Gloves: going to use the ones I made from my ironman costume
Cannon : I have the mount built to the torso, I have an electric motor with remote to control it, I am going to build the cannon out of foam to keep it light weight for the motor.

Helmet hinge system is essentially the same, people usually are going with a four-point hinge on each side (or of course just the magnetic removable)

As for the abs, tough call. It looks like your abs are all in one piece? If they fit once you're in them, I'd leave them the way they are even if it's a hassle to get into it. Once you start sectioning those, you have to deal with your own movements putting a lot of stress and strain to move the pieces (even if latched or elastic-ed together) around. The finish will also damage more easily from flexing. Long story short, if you have OK mobility once you're in it, leave it as is. You know that a one-piece fiberglass ab isn't going to crease/bunch/look *******y after a bit of wearing, keep in mind though that'll be because your body underneath is what's creasing and bunching instead lol. Just my opinion, if anything try it on, walk around, see if you can sit, see if it's cutting into your ribs or anything, and decide. You can always bang out abs of foam in less than a day if not.

Biceps- If the biceps fit well, you could just make bigger shoulder bells instead. In the end there's not a lot of clearance around the opening of the bells anyways. I would look into having your biceps connected to the top inside of your torso arm opening with straps and clips; the strapping is hidden under your bells, and one strap keeps your mobility while preventing the 'slide'.

Just my thoughts. In a pinch you can always replace stuff that doesn't work with foam, I just say use the fiberglass since you've already got it.... That, and I just think fiberglass builds kick ass. :thumbsup

is their a drawing, or plans of this 4 point hinge system for the faceplate ? i just cut the faceplate out of the helmet today after work. so im ready to hook this up !

i did my ironman helmet last year different. i used 2 servos with a middle hinge on the face plate, works fine, so i think ill try that again.

i just cleaned up the edges on the faceplate and helmet cut area on the iron patriot and it seams to come off and on with no binding, but thats with no hinge at all.

so im off to buy some servos, and a hinge and try to get this done by the end of the day ! wish me luck !

i think i got it ! batteries died ... got to recharge, and i have to sand a little off the lip area, it was getting caught once in a while, but for the most part it was working smooth.

I did cut my face plate a little differently then screen accurate, I left some of the side of the eyes intact, and I didn't cut the "wing" all the way to the ears, I figured that might get stuck a lot with it.
