It was Purely QMx Sonic Screwdrivers...

It's not fact or pessimism. It's just that a lot of RPFers were at SDCC and if there were something new there, a thread would have popped up. Or some news would have bubbled through from somewhere. Also not very promising is the fact that they didn't bring their TARDIS this year.

As far as I understand it, the TARDIS is delicate and difficult to move which is why they didn't bring it.

As far as sonics go, no there was nothing new. Same 3 prototypes we've seen. Nick Robatto was there and selling some of his wrist straps, but no new news on anything sonic related.

They did have a prototype 1/6 scale TARDIS on display that has sound effects, but I didn't get any information on it.

Great. Isn't the contract up in the next few months for them? I sincerely hope so. I would say they dropped the ball on this one, but the truth is, they didn't even pick it up or glance in the general direction of said ball.

The absolutely best news from a sonic fans point of view, is the remote. And QMx had nothing to do with that.

I heard a bit about this, so I'm glad I get to nip it in the bud. Thanks for bringing it up, tho. Saved me having to type out the whole explanation ;-)

Answer is, as you correctly surmised, 3: The sonic was the same Robatto prototype from SDCC.

I'd bet money I was the one who said that, btw. :)

We had a couple of newer QMx employees at Wondercon. Given the new booth set up (and not having Nick right there as we did at SDCC) we had a few more people discussing the sonics than last time.

Sounds like I have to go back and quiz them on a few things. :behave
think this the person your after from Qmx

I guess stickers is what we want as fans

Normally, yes. But their TARDIS was built specifically to be disassembled, moved and reassembled on a regular basis. It was the one built by Rebelscum that has a fantastic build thread.

It is pretty cool. Though, all the random sound effects that have never once come out of my speakers while watching Doctor Who are a bit of a turnoff. Still, much better than I expected when I first heard that one was being made.

Now I'm not taking the P here as I genuinely don't know due to being in the outback of Tanzania for a good few months. But did QMx have anything DW at SDCC this year. I think I can predict the answer, but hope springs eternal.

They had the same sonics from last year with no new news about when/if they will ever be released and a beautiful 1:6 scale Tardis.

Don't studio licences have some sort of stipulation that you actually have to produce x amount of items from the property to keep the licence?

Bumping the the vain hope that there is any news about the QMX...

But the more I think about it, it seems more that the 'he who shall not be named' Eccleston/Tennant sonic is the best that's going to be available, both in price and quality. And in the fact that it exists, and has existed for a while now- and seems to be getting better all the time...

I definitely think the market for 9/10th sonics has been exhausted. Once a pretty much perfect product appears there is not much that can be done and the addition of licence will not improve things as the whole Mattel debacle with the hover boards has shown. It's all about the 11th now and it appears that Voldemort has already got that in hand from what I can gather.

I just want an 11th Doctor Sonic that's pretty accurate, for a price as affordable as the MFX 10th Doctor Sonic was. But current cost estimates circulating through the grapevine have it that other prop makers would have to charge £500, which at current exchange rates is over $800 US... fully TWICE what the MFX sonic cost! Too rich for my blood, I'm afraid. Why couldn't Master Replicas have stuck around and gotten the Doctor Who license? At least THEY would have actually RELEASED PRODUCTS! :cry

As it is, I've already given up ANY hope that I'll EVER see an actual prop replica of the Master's Laser Screwdriver, or ANY replica other than the ones Character Options made a few years ago, as all the interested parties seem to have back-burnered that project indefinitely. :(

$3,500 for River Song's Sonic? $3,500.00 FOR RIVER SONG'S SONIC?!?!? Dafuq is QMx smokin'?!?!?!? :confused

I have no choice but to stick with my Character Options "toy" replica that I bought at my local comic book shop... for 1/100th the price!

So, no more news from QMx? Lame! :thumbsdown

At this point, if the only Doctor Who products we're ever going to get from them are going to be made by Nick Robatto anyway, they might as well let their option on the license expire, so the Beeb can give him the license for ALL the prop replicas and cut out the QMx middle-men. Maybe the prices would be lower that way! :thumbsup;)

QMx has an excellent line of Vaporware, if you haven't checked it out yet!

At what point does qmx lose the license to do these? Seems their stall in any king of sonic release snd still retaining the license has held up others from producing the prop for sale.

See, that's the problem... they HAVE released products, just not the ones the fans WANTED. :facepalm

But as far as the BBC would be concerned, the fact that they DID release the Artisan Master Series 11th Doctor's Sonic Screwdriver means that they DID produce something under license. The fact that the item was WAY out of the price range that 99.9% of fans consider acceptable or affordable is irrelevant. The fact that in the end, only 12 were produced and sold is irrelevant. A prop replica product WAS made, offered, and sold. The fact that only 12 Doctor Who fans worldwide were ever able to get one apparently doesn't matter under the terms of the license. :unsure

And they are continuing to maintain their license with the upcoming offer of the Artisan Master Series River Song's Sonic Screwdriver. Again, a ridiculously high price ($3,500.00, or roughly 100 times what I paid for the Character Options toy version, for which you can buy a decent, reliable used car if you know where to shop) and only (up to) 15 are to be offered for sale, but again, that's apparently irrelevant. They are still going to produce, offer and sell a prop replica product, thus protecting their license. :(

which is a absence amount of money do they even do anything I know they're pretty and limited but jeez i've seen so much cheaper better thing in the universe, the emperor's chair is that much i think lol
