Is there any way to stop McG from directing???

I was looking forward to seeing what they might do with the Wonder Woman pilot.... that is, until they mentioned that McG is the front runner to direct. I don't mind the guy producing things.... but as far as directing, he should be named McFranchisekiller.

Sorry, but for the life of me I can't understand why this guy STILL gets directing work.

Okay, okay.... rant over....

I agree he ruined terminator for me. I mean even after T3 I liked the franchise still but that last stinker x.x Not to mention the Charlie's angels movies.

Is it really the director's fault when the script is bad? James Cameron couldn't save T4 if he directed it either, unless there was a complete rehaul of the script.

The director is responsible for the script -- it's how he chooses what movie he's going to make and he certainly has plenty of time to develop it on the way into production. He may not have written it, but he committed to shooting it.

How about David Fincher with Alien 3? Or Stephen Norrington with League of Extraordinary Gentleman. I'm not doubting you, but both are talented directors and were kinda forced with the scripts. Sometimes the movie name is bigger than the creative freedom the director's have.

I agree with half that statement.

ALIEN3 is a famous story and is, thankfully, unique. Even to Hollywood. McG was dealing with huge egos (Bale, who he originally approached for the role of Marcus) and a bigger ship than he could steer. He also proved himself not a great performance director (Moon Bloodgood... shudder) or to have all that great a command of story. Not that this should be a surprise if anyone has seen either of the Charlie's Angels debacles.

The director must take responsibility because he is the CEO of the film production. He's in charge of getting the very best out of all his employees (writer included) and having the vision to keep it all together. This is something that maybe 50 or 100 people in the world can do well regularly and something that probably only 10 are true masters at. Fincher being one of them.

Imagine, for a moment, if Social Network -- all else being equal -- was shot by McG.

My only take on McG is that every time you turn around, he is attached to another film project - most of which do not get made or end up in other hands. So when he's slated for Wonder Woman it is just so much talk until it actually gets made. I'd say watch and wait.

The only thing that came out of "Terminator Salvation" was the "Terminator Salvation: The Machinima Series." And that was because it was a perfect example of how machinima can be used to tell a story. In fact, some fans like TS:TMS more than they do TS.

I agree, his movies are terrible, but the shows he produces are fantastic. Chuck and Human Target are two of my favorites. If he's producing Wonder Woman it should be good, but probably won't be if he directs.

Im not defending the guy one bit but hasnt anyone read the green lit original Terminator Salvation script? Its a joke, a really bad joke. You have T800's as golf caddies. It was a doomed film from the get go. McG has the gift of gab in a room full of people. It still boggles the mind how he was put behind the most expensive independent movie of all time with a script that was just awful. Love or hate Bale, whether it be his ego or not, T4 would have been a comedy if not for his demands on the script.

I can go on for hours about how wrong TS is due to missing story lines but its a moot point.

Yeah... TS was a joke... but could have been much, much worse. That's what happens when something is handed over to idiots who clearly doesn't understand the story.

I actually kinda like Salvation, well, T3 had probably lowered my expectations alot, but I think they did some casting mistakes. Christian Bale is not John Connor, actually switching him and Worthington may have helped. Sam has a lot more of the innocence Edward Furlong had. And how did Johns wife grow younger since t3 ?

The casting for both T3 and TS was terrible. Then, you have cinematography that has a movie of the week feel to it. Its such a basic concept yet its been screwed up twice in a row. Besides that, how the HELL do you spend $200 million on a movie? Scale back the big eye candy worthless to story explosions and focus on the story and characters.

Let him have Wonder Woman so he wont get near anything good. Its destined to fail anyways from what I hear.
