Re: ironman mark III costume (W.I.P)

Helmet is starting to take shape nicely. Two questions though, why not cut the bottom back section out? And why such deep grooves in the top?

finhead i will cut the bottom back after i finish sanding posting some pics this week!!! about the top grooves.. are 10mm deep you think is too deep? how deep are these grooves? can you give me the measure?

updating work

guys have some questions i made the forearm but have some problems :wacko

i made two forearms
i asked dancingfool and he told me the files are bigger for me i am 172cm tall so.... i've scaled using stealth advice the result: really small the hole but the armor is ferfect for me. so i made the pice in dancingfool's scale (original size)

the trouble is that i have bigger hands lol and the hole is small
any advice?? or i will have to cut my hands:unsure:unsure:lol

Re: ironman mark III costume (W.I.P)

Hey Scorpion,
Just enlarge that last strip (before the wrist). Cut it again at the joint and figure an extra piece of paper to get your hand through it.

Be careful how you built that forearm .. the roundisch part over the forearm shouldn't get out that much .. check the shape in the software properly and you'll see what I mean.

thanks for the advice bigturc!! i was going to cut the forearm in two pieces:lol:lol about the top part... yep you are right i'll have to re work it

what size did you finally use on the sharkmark helmet? just curious :)

well i've used the original scale for the helmet for the suit i am using dancingfool's files i'm not going to change the scale because really i don't know how to do it to fit my person..... total ñewbie:cry dancing's files are made to fit a 6' tall and i am 5'6 so I shall see as a puppet:lol i was going to build the suit for me but my idea is selling the costume and most people are taller than me

helmet measures

height: 265mm
witdh: 186mm
depth: 264mm

sorry for my bad english hope all understand what i'm saying :unsure

Re: ironman mark III costume (W.I.P)

If your 5'6" you should use whatever files you can find that Stealth resized, just look through his threads. He is 5'7" so they should be the perfect size already.

Looks Great! But you will need to strengthen it some how. If you put bondo over the cardboard without strengthing it, if there is any flex it will all crack

you are right i use bondo over cardboard in several works if you give a thick coat will not crack

these are made with cardboard + bondo

you are right the examples are just cardboard and bondo.

but if you are wearing it there are a lot more forces on your chestpiece then a model has.
the Patlabor has metal and wooden plates inside, so it can be taken apart but these plates also give strength to the structure.

just beware that wearing it might crack your bondo sooner or later.. would be a shame if it happened when it's fully painted and polished.

this is not the wearable suit, sure will crack, after finishing the whole costume i will use this for the molding process with silicone rubber:thumbsup
