Iron Man MK XLV 3D Print

Looking really good. I'm still trying to figure out the best way to attach the chest, shoulders, and back together. Any thoughts? I also found that the flaps don't quite fit flush with the holes for them due to warping during printing but its a pretty reasonable fit. Functional actuating flaps will be added after I get a wearable suit. I asked Do3d for under flap detail like they have in the mk46 but received no response, so I am having a go at modelling some of my own:

I'm going to figure that out once the upper body is printed. Otherwise it's just geuss work.
Maybe using industrial grade velcro for the shoulder and magnets for chest and back will do the trick.

I'm also in need of some decent detail behind the flaps. I might give a crack at modelling it too.

Nice. Be mindful of the fine detail lines when you are finishing it. I had to etch some of them back in with a detail file after a few coats of filler primer.

I was also thinking about Velcro and magnets but I might also experiment with a more rigid shoulder connection like metal straps and fastex buckles.

I found a color that matches the gold of the MK45 pretty closely. The paint that was suggested was not for sale in my country, so I had to go digging.

I found Ford BP Sunburst Gold and had it mixed. Looks pretty good to me :)
I used a basecoat of matt black.

I have to tackle the helmet again to fix some issues and spray the grey parts in metallic silver

That gold looks pretty nice. How did you get the face plate to fit so neatly? Mine doesn't really align properly. Did you omit the 4 attachment lugs?

I kept the 4 spacers in the helmet. I removed the bits that were on top of it though. They would otherwise push the faceplate to the outside.

Finished redoing the paint on the helmet. Looks much better now. The internals will receive a coat of black.

I still need to do the rear though and the small chin piece that was missing from the files.

Looks great. Have you printed the eye frames? I had mine SLS printed as my i3 wasn't up to the task.

Hi everyone,

Yes I am still working on the suit but it's a bit low paced at the moment as I am also doing some renovation works in my home.

I am looking for files for the hands in foam. I have printed the details of the lower palm, but need a flexible base to put it on.

Can someone show me the way? I can't seem to find the files.

Curious as to why you're wanting to use foam hands with 3d printed armour?

I want to have full movement in my hand. A fully 3D printed hand will limit your mpovement to fingers only.

I have the details already printed and want to fit them on top of the foam.

What are you gonna do to add the missing lips on the helmet ? Does do3d know about the missing lips ? :)

From my limited experience wearing the armour sections I've already printed, limited mobility is the name of the game :D

I received one, but it did not fit at all. I asked them to check it again and they wanted to have my sclaed file so they could fit it for me.
Did not receive anything back since then. That's again over a week...

Well then it's our job to make it as mobile as possible ;)

Not sure if this would break my usage agreement with Do3d but I could send you the one I extracted and scaled myself from the assembled helmet file?
