Re: Iron Man Mark 6- second cardboard build

Hey, Jordan anything new we've been waiting on the next pieces? Any luck with the resined areas?

Re: Iron Man Mark 6- second cardboard build

Yeah looking into another way to do the seams and stuff... and I ordered new foam.. it shipped today. So I should have some more progress soon. Hoping to sell the old suit to a member on this board so my manny will be ready to display my new armor as it finishes.

Re: Iron Man Mark 6-second cardboard build

Got sidetracked today. Had to do some work on a vehicle. I just came inside 11:00pm my time from working on the back. The hemet, back and chest by far are my hardest pieces to work on. I had to deal with many uneven parts to fix... it seems like its taking forever to get these pieces finished. Can't rush it or they won't look right. I looked at my other pieces today, and they won't take nearly as long as these 3 pieces! Getting anxious! The back is done! here's a pic. And a I threw a few more of the legs assembled. I get to paint it tommorow morning before I go to work. Keep Building!....

WOW ... you are moving ... those legs look great ... your back has a few ripples in it but not bad at all for cardboard this build is sweet ... you got skills BD ... lucky ... your weather is nice ... I woke up this morning and found it snowed at like 3am ... so no luck for me to get out there and fiber glass ... that's colorado for you though ... we can get all four seasons in one day .. lol ... how long did you spend on the back sanding it?

I found the mistakes when I put it together and fiberglassed it. Now i have to live with it. I'll fix the bridge and support area after I do my final sand today before i paint. I don't want to add anymore because if i do I'll mess it up, so i'm gonna quit while i'm ahead. You don't know what you're gonna get til you paint it. Lol! Oh 14 hours bondo, sanding and plaster. 6 hours for 3 coats primer.

Re: Iron Man Mark 6- second cardboard build

Ha! Ha! I thought about that jordan c'ept I haven't bought a body suit yet. I might be able to do it this weekend. I'm probably gonna go red or gun metal.

Re: Iron Man Mark 6- second cardboard build

I'm doing some undersuit stuff for the exposed areas. I don't know how well it will work but i'm planning on using plasti-dip to cover it. Ive sketched the design but haven't cut anything yet.

Yep! make the pieces, fibergalss them, Brush 3-5 coats over them, pull them off the resined piece and pad it. Its strong and cheaper than buying a urathane rubber kit, and you can paint it! just use a bumper paint promoter spray from the auto parts store before you shoot it.

Have you ever tried to pull ths stuff of a pair of pliers? it handles stress extremely well and has to be cut to take off.

Late last night I finished the back. I'm ok with it the paint job needs touching up. I ran out of regular gloss and used triple thick gloss. Didn't like it. :unsure But I'll fix it later. It on to the chest. No triple thick gloss though, threw the can away. here's a few pics. Keep Building!....
