Iron Man Mark VI MaskedRider Armor Kit Pics Updated 06/25/2013!! WIP

Re: Iron Man Mark VI MaskedRider Armor Kit WIP

J I apologize I didn't get home in time to take the measurements but you'll definitely fit in the suits width wise.. as for height Leslee himself said 6' to 6'5 and above is the ideal range. The abdomen comes up to about my upper chest so like 2.5" below my upper armpit. As for the top part of the thighs and hip unit.. when they are completely together ( the legs) my hip matches the armor hip precisely.. now I just need to get down to a size 34-36 waist :lol nothing but fruit and veggies for me over the next month!! :lol

No prob! I'm just long in the torso, which was my concern and it's a big chunk of change. Whenever you get the chance is cool.
I wanted to post that I appreciate the time to post pics and your work in progress here for us all, especially as I'm working on getting a Mark IV myself and we're the same height. You have to be CRAZY excited about it, because I know I'll be bouncing off the walls when I get my suit. The OCD over it drives me nuts, I can't help it, and thankfully my wife and kids understand and support the whole thing and even take part! My youngest son who is a Shadowtrooper in the 501st with me is getting interested in a War Machine to go with my Iron Man when it happens. LOL

From the pictures the shoes look like there all one piece? On the MK3 there a two piece design :) excited to see more! Haha

Re: Iron Man Mark VI MaskedRider Armor Kit WIP

How much did the kit run you and where did you get it from (username or website)? Looks awesome, curious how he did the gloves/hands. Most people I've seen use peices over the gloves but the war machine looks as if they are one peice.

Re: Iron Man Mark VI MaskedRider Armor Kit WIP

Ok so I spoke with Tyler about posting these on here and he's cool with it, this is how I connected my War Machine thighs to the lower legs.

FIRST OFF... A massive shout goes out to Matt (Surreal Studios) as he showed me the idea and I went with it on mine and it's worked out fine.
The idea is to use pre drilled Aluminium bars and then hinge them with a nut and bolt but make sure you use a plastic or rubber washer between the bars as this will allow the motion to be far smoother than without.

On with some pics ..
A shot from outside of the knee.

Another shot showing how they look on the inside.

These need to fastened in first first a strong glue to hold them in place while you fiberglass them in to make them as sturdy as possible.
I used a flash on these pics so you could see what was going on.

A shot looking down inside the leg from the top. Also going this route means you'll never have badly aligned knee's .

More pics coming up soon.

Also, and this may sound obvious but make sure you place your bolt at the pivot point as close to your own knee pivot or you'll have problems when bending your leg. Take that as a good tip!

And in that last shot, you'll see the plastic with two poppers? that's to hold the insert for the knee on the inside ;)

I paid roughly 4200 after shipping and the gloves are a two piece with the fingers joints being each separate piece as well. I bought this kit from masked rider here on the forums.

The boots are one piece all you have to do is buy some black ankle boots to put inside them.

Re: Iron Man Mark VI MaskedRider Armor Kit WIP

Thanks for the posts, Steve! Gives me a great head start on what I'll need to do to make sure it fits and sits perfectly for a Troop. It'll be good to see how Tyler goes with it on the Mark VI.

This maybe the wrong place to ask but I bought a suit that's incomplete and I need to make or buy the hands, and shoe covers. It also needs lights any suggestions are much appreciated thanks!

Yeah, head over to "The Junkyard" and start a "WTB" (want to buy) thread request the hands and shoe covers. As for the lights I'm using BMW Angel eye halo LEDs. Just search for those on ebay... the ones I ordered are as follows:

This is a 60mm diameter

This is the 40mm diameter, this one will go inside the middle of the 60mm and act as my arc reactor... these 40mm rings are also really great for the gloves, just find a semi opaque acrylic circle to help dim the LED a bit and you'll be set to go.

Re: Iron Man Mark VI MaskedRider Armor Kit WIP

you could wrap those metal brackets with silicone tape or spay them with plastic dip or pant them with liquid electric tape to help prevent metal rubbing on the leg cover

Re: Iron Man Mark VI MaskedRider Armor Kit WIP

I think I'll probably coat mine with rubber... going to pick them all up tomorrow after lunch and I really need to get that abdomen measured for J when I wake up... that will be priority #1 for me lol

Re: Iron Man Mark VI MaskedRider Armor Kit WIP

21 inches gentleman, from the groin to the tip of the chest on the front.. same on the back really

YES!! THANK YOU! It looks like it'll be just about the perfect length! Assuming the chest is long enough which it looks like it is, that means I'm not so freakishly proportioned that it wouldn't work for me!
Now I'm even more obsessed because I KNOW it'll fit me perfectly!

Thanks, man, I appreciate it. A small thing for you, a huge piece of mind for me!
