Iron Man Mark III (Dark Asylum)

Re: New iron man suit in the the works

OK, so seeing the interest and this process of Iron man construction, given the number of perks using high impact light weight plactics and layering armor, given possible future suits I'd like get some opinions about maybe a war machine, the Mark 4 or maybe the Mark 6, I'd just like to see what people would like to see tackled project wise, PM me with your opinions and possible insight, I'd really appreciate feed back.

Other then this uodates coming this week ok, thanks.

Re: New iron man suit in the the works

It is a mucher lighter weight, I still think a stromtrooper armor will weigh less given more layers and parts to the Iron man suits I put extra reinforcement doubling layers at high stress points as well, but over all it ways about 35-45 LBS complete, and the latex parts seem to out weigh the armor, but flexability and lighter weight is a few benifits for sure.

Thicker latex always weighs quite a bit. The vacformed plastic weighs almost nothing, but your weight will indeed come from latex components. I've been around enough Predator latex skins to know that. ;) I know the fiberglass/vacformed combo TMP Iron Man suits mentioned earlier weigh about 30 pounds.

Re: New iron man suit in the the works

Fiberglass suits weigh closer to 80-90 LBS completed unless the fiberglass is done in super thin layers and no cloth reinforcement which you just asking for trouble, just think the classic C3PO costume 85lbs hotbox of armor.

I'm not knocking fiberglass, but I wont be using it cause there's much better options and materials, but they cost more money then fiberglass, but if you want the higher quality materials you got to put money in to a project and budget.

I'm not knocking either style, either. I'm just letting you know I've personally weighed a TMP suit and it was about 30 pounds. On a side note, I know a prop maker who made himself a Predator costume with full latex skins and full fiberglass armor (thick casted and with cloth reinforcement matting on each piece) and the whole costume was about 50 pounds.

Me personally, I'd truly like to see vacformed plastic Iron Man costumes, because I know they'd be light weight, but the fiberglass costumes I've personally held don't weigh anywhere near 80-90 pounds. I also have two different friends of mine with C-3P0 fiberglass costumes that aren't that heavy either (but I haven't really studied their construction in thickness, matting, etc like you mentioned.)

Re: New iron man suit in the the works

I was talking about the classic suit form a new hope it weighed 80lbs, and I didn't mention TMPs suit by the way nor will I touch that subject it's only trouble.

And the Fiberglass suit in general I've been told by 4 different people on the weight and it's not 30 lbs for those examples, but not saying it can be done but they wont be very strong.

Re: New iron man suit in the the works

Rather than dissing one style vs. the other style, I'd rather focus on this suit itself. ;)

Guys, before someone gets in trouble...contact him privately...on this particular forum, it is NOT allowed to talk about costs, times, availability and so on ;)

Re: New iron man suit in the the works

Well they can ask but I'm not posting that type of info outside the junkyard and thanks for the concern and lets all try to stay out of trouble, good luck to every one on that note.

Re: New iron man suit in the the works

Tomorrow I'll record the shoes and the function of them, alright LOL, hold your horses updates on the way folks.

Here's a 46 second clip of me testing the Iron man shoes, they rock they pivot and flex, and can withstand treading abuse, and offer killer stereo surround sound effects, lol, ok so with some sound densing rubberized industral paint, will eliminate most of the clopping sound, but atleast this gives a look at the flexing and movement of the shoes, they also add about 2.5 inches of hight.

Either way very fun to just walk around in these feet oddly enough.

The paint is on order and hoping it will be here some time at the end of the week, so I can start painting some of the parts, thanks for viewing.
