I don't recall exactly what Favreau said in an interview but it was something to the effect that he didn't really see it happening in part 2 or maybe even part 3. He had a very specific reason for it though I don't recall what it was. By the time he gets to a third film (assuming he does), he could always change his mind...

Favreau said in an interview that Whiplash goes through the same processes as Tony, what you're seeing is Whiplash's "Mark 1".

Sorry, but too many characters KILLS a movie for character development.

Might still turn out to be a fun, exciting movie. But I'm telling you, those that HAVE to have that are going to be very disappointed.
