Greetings!
I've decided to do a retro comics Iron Man 2020 build. For me this build is only partly new, as I'll be re-using some templates from 2 prior builds: 68-84 & Silver Centurion.
What's new here are:
- Shoulder gears, attached after cosplayer dons torso
- Belt between codpiece & stomach section
- Throwing star & gear hip props
While having the gears spin is more of a Godkiller armour detail, this is an overlap detail that I'd like to indulge. I'll be looking at a small motor on each side to rotate the outer gears, however slowly. Has anyone done anything like this here?
Paint job will differ from prior also; my Silver Centurion was:
- Heat sealed
- Sealed & primed with 2 coats latex/water based contact cement
- Painted via 6 coats of acrylic medium with colored mica
- Finished with 3 coats of acrylic varnish
This build will use a new process. Instead of the 6 coats of acrylic medium, I'll be brushing on 3 coats of acrylic paint & clear DAP Kwik Seal caulking, in a 4:1 ratio. Very rugged, harmless & inexpensive! In this case I'll be aiming for a metallic blood red.
Pockets will be concealed in the front of the torso, enough for a phone each. A USB battery pouch will also be hidden - a 15amp-hour battery will be powering 5x .4amp fans in the torso. =)
Any thoughts on motors?
