Iron man 2 - Spoilers!

Re: Iron man 2

This will ruin Iron Man. Once you start adding NORSE GODS, well, that pretty much pees in the Wheaties. The next one will be the Batman and Robin of the series, mark my words. You'll have to replace "jumping the shark" with "introduced Thor." As in, "We knew Happy Days had introduced Thor, so to speak, when the Fonz jumped a shark."

:lol:lol:lol:lol

Well, there's always the Ultimates route, where Thor's origin is not believed by the main populace and is presented in an ambiguous manner as to whether he's a Norse god or a buff surfer who's partaken of too many shrooms.

Honestly, the seamless way they've introduced a billionaire alcoholic with a metal suit that has jets in the boots makes me think Asgardian Thor will be OK if we see him in his own flick first.

I saw the movie this afternoon and could not have been more disappointed. The special effects were good, it was shot well, but the plot, the dialogue, and the entire tone of the film was bad. This movie was slightly better than Transformers 2, but I thought they let us down in a big way. C- at best, and probably a D+ upon further reflection. It will make TONS of money at the box office, but then again, so did Attack of the Clones.....

:thumbsdown

i saw it awhile back and I must say I'm surprised at the reaction on the board. i mean, i didn't like it at all, but I expected to be the only one again. I knew this one was probably going to be bad considering they didn't have the Robocop screenplay to borrow from like they did with the first film.

Movie was great! Forgot about life for a couple hours so it did its job!

Go IMAX! I love it when the sound is so loud you can't hear jackasses yapping to each other.

I had fun. I felt it was a solid follow up.

Yup. Same here. It ain't no oscar winner, but it was a pleasure to see. I think they really did a great job of translating the comic book to the page. The action sequences were great, and I thought the characters were all well in swing.

And frankly, if you were expecting something else, then maybe the problem is you :lol

Saw it last night. Not as good as I had thought it would be.

It felt like a Robocop gone mad movie. Action was good but to many
suits and clones, and most of all, way to much CGI. You wonder why I
don't go the cinemas as much anymore. Everyone making these 99%
CGI films is just killing films for me. Jurassic park did it right. Used only
when needed. Star Wars prequels on the other hand, started all this
noncense.

While both were decent forthe most part, I enjoyed Kick a$$ much
better than Iron man 2.

Re: Iron man 2

The Thor situation is going to be the same as well. His father is Odin, ruler of Asgard, and they have a strained relationship that caused him to place Thor on Earth within the body of Don Blake, or at least that's how the comics went. It's uncertain how much of a role Odin will be playing in the movie, although Anthony Hopkins has been cast as him.

Ryu

No Don Blake in the movie. Skipping that entirely.

As far as having machines with live ammo, that was the plan. It wasn't an ill fated decision like ED-209, it was in hopes that Tony took the bait and showed up so these things could kill him.

Saw it last night and loved it. Great translation of comic to movie. Downey has deffinatley pegged the way Tony Stark is.

Also...I guess they cut the "You complete me!" scene where he jumps out the plane after Pepper kisses the helmet.

One thing about it, that became fairly evident...Was that Mickey Rourke got some realy cool lines, and Rober Downey Jr got some horribly stale responses.

I was thinking about the timeline last night, and I think what's going to happen is that when all is said and done, ALL of the Marvel Studios movies are going to be intertwined in the same timeline. There were a lot of little easter eggs and hints dropped throughout the film (man of which are mentioned here) that I think are all going to link up.

So when you sit down to watch all of the marvel movies leading up to the Avengers movie, you will see how they all fit together to tell a larger, cohesive story.

Which I think is very cool, by the way.

I may actually go see this one again.

I thought that was Marvel's goal from the beginning: establishing that within their movies, there is one Marvel continuum. Hence the post credit scenes, cameos, etc. That and apparently Stan Lee is everywhere.

I like the results of that little missle at the end. Sam Rockwell (Crewman number 6)
spun that whole speel on how distructive that little sucker was and we
ended up with just tink/plunk/splash. The theater was laughing like crazy
during that.

Same thing happened in the theater when I saw it:lol Rockwell is a trip. I just loved how he played his part perfectly. A guy that wanted to be Tony Stark...but just could'nt pull it off:thumbsup

The missile dud. Saw it coming from a mile away. And I'll say again, we finally get to the big showdown between Tony and Ivan, and it's over really quick. I was just getting into it, thinking, what cool, smart, clever thing are they gonna have to do to defeat this guy, because they'll never be able to over-power him and---

Oh. Wait. They just over-powered him.

Spider-Man 2 did it best. That battle between Spidey and Ock goes on awhile! With real emotional stakes driving it. That's the benchmark to beat.

This is the one gripe I can agree with. They did seem to bring down Ivan pretty quick, although he was quite handily kicking their asses before that. The only thing that saves it, and I think they must have editted the final fight down some, was the extended super lengthy drone chase sequence. I'll bet they got done with the movie and realized the ending was running long and chopped some bits out of the fight with Ivan. I still can't reckon why they decided to duke it out groundside. Even if whiplash could fly Iron Man and War Machine still had range on him as far as weaponry goes.

Gotta agree, there was all of this foreplay, and supsense, and build up...then wham...we are left with a premature ending:lol
