Interest thread - 1/72 Naboo Starship

Holy crap talk about a dud! By this time on my other kits I've gotten dozens of orders and responses, maybe no more SW stuff for me huh? It's ok though since I wanted one really bad and I would've bought one if someone else was making it, so I'm happy. Might be the subject matter too, people seem to hate this ship for some reason. Should I make the other chromers? hmmm, not sure now.

I'd love to get one but just lacking funds right now for another kit at the $400 level.
You know the list - the CC D7, korbanth's SSD, your BoP etc.

Also there may be lower than expected demand because of the kit already
being sold by FP - not as big I know but still not small and pretty good quality.

The Ep II ship isn't cancelled, but at 1/72 it would have a 50" wingspan, pretty big.

It'll look great hanging from the ceiling. Best way to display these big birds.

Much as I appreciate your "Trek" work Rich, it's occasionally nice to see someone with your skills tackle more obscure subjects.

I really liked it. I would've gotten one too if I hadn't just finished my Fantastic Plastic one. I'd definitely be interested in the Royal Naboo Cruiser (Episode 2)... no need to make it as large as your Royal Naboo Starship... unless you want to, of course.

As for giving up on SW kids, I say give up on the Trek stuff. Put away the Vulcan ears and put on your jedi tunic.

Here's something I've been having fun with. This is how I'd imagine the ship if Anakin had've lost the race and Watoo ended up with the ship.

Don't let it get you down - it's a stellar effort and the final result looks fantastic. Be happy with it and just proceed with what you like to do.

I think the thing with this ship, is that all it's known for is breaking down on tatooine. :confused

Had I the funds at the moment, I'd order one just to help fund future projects. ;)

I don't think it's any secret that older Star Wars fans (i.e. the ones who could afford this model) prefer the original trilogy to the prequels. I happen to share this bias, but it doesn't distract me from the fact that the Royal Starship is perhaps the sleekest, most stylish vessel in the entire saga.

As for interstellar breakdowns, I believe the Falcon holds that record.

It's a matter of two facts.

Fact one; The model is huge. Most people in the hobby don't own thier own homes and can not display such a large piece no matter how finely crafted it is. (And it is VERY finely crafted.)

Fact two: Wonderfest is days away from now. Most of the serious guys have to pay for airfare and rooms. As well as saving for the dealer room.

For me it's the size that is the drawback. Speaking of which, The Enterprise D shoud be 1/1000th scale. ;)

Good points Coby, thank you.

And the "used universe" look continues....

Bite your tongue! Or, er, your fingers.

:)

EDIT: I think it's a great design. Still not sure I could pull off the chrome effect, I'd probably have to go for mylar. My fear is that I would never be able to do it justice. And, I'd want to put blue glowing engines on it and build up a cockpit with a subtle red glow. And, wow, I still have a backlog of 4 studio scale kits waiting for me to start and/or finish up because of other projects. And, then there's all those other kits I know are in the works!

Thanks, those are on the back burner for a little while until I can get caught up with a few other things. Personally my second favorite chrome ship is the Ep III Starskiff.
