Interest thread - 1/72 Naboo Starship

I would like to make a 1/72 Ep I Naboo cruiser because I really want one that size, it would be 41" long. This isn't something I'd start anytime soon, well maybe, it wouldn't take much to do it, I have all the cross sections and build plans finished. I could sculpt it out in a week or so. Would anyone be interested in one that size? It would be made of fiberglass, probably very few pieces, and fairly inexpensive. Just curious.

Thanks.

Is the cruiser ship the all silver ship. I would be interested in getting it if it is. :love

REL- where do you find the time to build all these beautiful models? :D

That's the one. Here's a pic of it.

That's not the cruiser. That's the Naboo Royal Starship or the J-Type 327 Nubian Starship.

Regardless, I'd definitely be interested. Particularly if you're building it. Gotta get my hands on some better ref material for that so I can keep you busy, REL.. Thanks.

Are we talking about a kit or a finished model?

If it's a kit, would the parts come chromed?

In any case, I'm interested. :)

I don't want to speak for REL, but I highly doubt it. I think he said he's considering making a resin kit. That's it. It's up to you to build it and paint it. I've had a bunch of discussions with people on the best way to accomplish the mirror finish. Some are in the Alclad 2 Chrome camp and some are in the Killer Chrome spray paint kit camp.

Hmm. According to Post #1, it will be fiberglass, not resin.

In any case, thanks for the insight.

Don't know if you've been following the MiB Standard Issue Pistol thread here in the Junkyard, but ricksprops says he's found a perfect silver paint, better than Alsa, Ghost Chrome, and Duplicolor, one that "does not smudge or diminish in luster if touched." It's called CHAMPION SPRAYON STERLING SILVER. If wonder if this could be a contender for finishing the Naboo ship.

Read more about it in Post #133 of this thread:

I made the templates to start it on a large piece of plexi. Here's how large it will be in 1/72. It will have a full cockpit and I'm beginning to think I'll have photo etching done for the cockpit displays etc. Also, I'll be casting it with a gloss black gelcoat if I can to aid in the chroming process. As for the spires, I think I'll have a machine shop turn those in aluminum.

AWWWW Swweeet.
As much as I love Trek, I love Star Wars more, and with so few decent sized (i.e. big) SW models on the market, I am really looking forward this.
I think the gloss black Gelcoat is a fantastic idea. :)

REL, you did quote a price around an "ish" at the SSM boards, will that stay the same if you go with PE and turned aluminum too??
