@ Everyone else.. look. I know that my wife isn't as much of a cinemaphile as us. We have all of these little inside jokes and such and to US they are old-hat. We've seen them a million times, to the point that they may even make us cringe but we need to remember that there was a time when WE didn't know these things too.
I've said it before.. shes a Brooklyn Italian woman. She has a temper and angers easily.. she also gets over it pretty quickly. This place is a reprieve for many of us.. isn't that why Larry Young started the thread against negative threads? Melissa was sharing something she had just learned.
YES, it's something we ALL know but to her it was interesting and she wanted to share.
We're all geeks here of varying degrees. Melissa, perhaps, to a slightly lesser degree but only because she hasn't been properly... "indoctrinated" yet.
You guys should see how much trouble I used to have getting her to even watch sci-fi films. Now, after exposure to Doctor Who and Firefly, she's more open.
I think we ALL need to step back and cool down a little. TheRPF is our oasis, let's not crap in the pool. :thumbsup

The guys I work with would give me wedgies if they knew I went to Mansfield, Ohio to take pictures of a tree that was in a movie. It was then knocked down in a storm, but when I post the news story, someone posts a sarcastic comment about 'that's what happens to old trees in storms.'

I would expect it from my work buddies, but it even happens here.

It just shows you how far apart we are. It's interesting that he would read a thread he doesn't care about or understand and make a mean comment to ruin evertyone's fun. I mean, why do that? Go to the trouble of doing that?

It would make a great scientific study I'm sure.

I never find it very gentlemanly to be rude to a girl, especially when her husband is a shared friend. Poor form. Since this isn't 3rd grade, and since women have the same rights as men, I think it's perfectly fine to be rude to and even verbally attack a 'girl'. Try it, it's fun to watch them get all flustered and start name calling. However I will agree that I am not mature...I mean I do collect toys.

There are always at least 2 paths in any situation, and all are a choice. In a situation like this one, if anyone let their wives come in and read this thread, while they might agree that no one did anything 'wrong' with what they said, they might think that a nicer approach could have provided a better outcome.
