Indiana Jones 5 officially announced

There's NO WAY Disney can resist rebooting the Indy franchise. With or without Steven Spielberg. If there is any gold to be mined from any property, Disney will dig deep and ruin the earth finding it.

Also, I like the idea of stories focused around Abner Ravenwood, HanSolo2187. We know next to nothing of his exploits, if there were any like the ones Indy got into. :unsure

No reboot! If they're going to do it create a new character and then call it something like The Legacy of Indiana Jones: New Movie Title.

Indy was always best when he was looking for a religious artifact. Plenty of stuff in the bible for him to go find that could make some crazy story.
But if they could just pull off a really great movie again, then anything could work.

I really think this would be the way to go. We know virtually nothing about Abner - except that he was obsessed with finding the Ark and drug Marion around the world looking for "bits of junk" having to do with it. It would be set in the pre-1936 era, which is much more intriguing than moving into the Cold War period with an older Indy. You could cast a younger Indy who would be following in Abner's footsteps.

I wonder if they would fix the age between Indy and Marion. I remember reading that the implied age difference between them was significant. Something like he was 25 and she was barely a teenager.

Either fix it or focus on it and show how far apart in age they really were. Don't think Disney would go there, though.

Its definitely going to set up the new lead for the franchise, no matter what happens I guess. Wonder what the artifact will be this time.

It's going to be the 1960's. Have Geezer Indy tour with Jim Morrison like Harrison Ford did in real life.
Geezer Indy could meet young CGI Harrison.

I guess I’m in a minority...but with a good story, I still feel like I don’t care WHO plays Indy, as long as it’s a good story. I view it like James Bond...there are several who have been stellar, and some who weren’t as good...but the fact that Daniel Craig and Sean Connery have both played the same character doesn’t make me enjoy either of their films in the role any less.

Heck, they could even play it up a little bit by having Ford in the film, as Old Man Indy, recounting a tale from his youth.

University Student: Dr Jones, is it true you were once on the cusp of finding the Lost Treasure of McGuffin?
Harrison Ford as Old Man Indy: Yes, but that was a long time ago, kid.
Student: Well, I’ve got time.
Old Man Indy: Kid, at my age I don’t know if I can even remember...things start to get hazy, names, faces...

Cut to an obviously young Indy getting punched in the face. When he pops back up into screen, it’s Chris Pratt (or whoever else you fancy as an Indiana Jones) and the story goes from there.

It’s not so much a reboot as a passing of the torch, and if the film is good and the story is good, nobody will forget that Ford was Indy, but they’ll have a new Indy to enjoy, as well.

I don't know...maybe it’s just me, but I think that would be pretty cool. It also gets Indy back to the era he belongs in.

I like this but with a fountain of youth plot or shangri la or something similar.

Uh oh...

The Cult Of Ingruber is about to rise from the ashes of being burned down for the chance to ape Harrison Ford by playing young Han Solo and demand he now be given the chance to ape Harrison Ford by playing young Indy... ;)

Actually he does a very good Sean Connery

Had a look at Lara Crofts box office lately Steven?

Lets have some strong women characters in movies who can stand on their own two feet WITHOUT having to steal the trousers (or hat) off every single male hero that's ever been invented.

Steven Spielberg: ‘Indiana Jones could be a WOMAN after Harrison Ford’s last movie’
