incredible hulk costume build

Sure. I'll have to pull them off my old memory card. When I got the new hd7 windows phone I ended up losing my pics(no memory slot) but I still have the card. I'll have to find it and transfer to the laptop. It was put together in about 1 1/2-2 weeks. I have thought about redoing it with a functioning mouth, but didn't have time last halloween

Sketch, in response to the Autodesk inventor comment, it should work for your purposes. I've used the program before and not only is it fairly easy to use once you pick up the basics, it also gives you the ability to animate what you have made. So if you do make computer renderings of each seperate piece, you can place them all together and joint them to see if they move as a cohesive unit or overlap at all or any of those sorts of problems.

Thanks phaeren, I do plan on taking some classes for it, could land me an ME job. But im also looking at AutoDesk mudbox for a business idea I have. Maybe I can get a discount on AutoDesk inventor. Not sure if itd do what I need. Im new to the cad idea, known about it, but never messed with it. But once i get enough assets built up i plan to go back to school to get a degree in computer 3d animation. So I'll be dealing with stuff like Maya, mudbox, 3ds and maybe even cad. The auto desk lineup is pretty impressive, its really cool what you can do with them.

just started with maya not too long ago, it's a bit more challenging to me. its more like computer sculpting where as autocad you can give it measurements and dimensions. Animation is a lot of fun and there are tons of great tutorials out there and books on the subject at most libraries. Autodesk also has some decent tutorials on there website as well to get you started.

GeneralJuan, that's good to know. The ability to animate the desiign will be important. That was one of my concerns with the inventor program.

I love to sculpt and draw, so I think that the animation should be a good thing for me to play with. Though I'm not sure how much it will help with this. Though I want to learn it regardless. Eventually I hope to stop the mechanic work and become a freelance animator and all around artist. Specially before my body aches from endless hours of working on jets

yeah i'm the same way, that would be my dream job. until then i hope to be teaching math (if the gov't stops cutting teaching positions :unsure). as far as uses go, inventor seems to be perfect for what you need right now. as far as 3Ds or Maya go if you ever get into pepakura you can use them to create the 3D models that you can then import into the program and unfold. Autodesk, potentially, has its name all over this project

Thanks ormantortuga, been checking out your cap suit, looking good. Don't know if id travel to NYC just for the con, but if I ever head that way around the same timeframe I'll certainly hit it up.

And phaeren, you're right! Lol potential sponsor? Haha thatd be sick!

Im kind of jealous that so many people have done the IRONMAN thing...before I came on therpf I had no idea there were so many....i was going to do it after the hulk lol. Oh well, its over done now, but perhaps I can use the hulk tech to make a hulk buster ironman lol

Dude! Just found this topic & going to bookmark it. Looking forward to updates!!

This is horrible guys....i can't sleep, been laying in bed for around 3 hours with images of the hulk, ironman, and mechanical hands running through my head. Haha, I have to get up at 4am to get ready for work!!!! Tomorrow is going to suck! But think I will go find me some wire to start a hulk statue to get inspiration for this build. And work off some of these thoughts. In a week or two I will probably start the head casting to sculpt the mask. For now....gotta try and sleep. Only have 5 hours till I have to be leaving for work

Hi guys,

As one of the guys who took the Dick Smith course back in the day, I have to say that posting pages from it is the one big no-no.

We all signed a non disclosure/ no copying contract, so whoever you got those from cannot be trusted and has broken a contract.
If you took the course and posted the images I suggest you take them down and reread the contract you signed.

At the bottom of the page it clearly states copyright Dick Smith. I don't think you are Dick Smith and I don't think he gave you permission to post images from his course.

hey clayslinger,

If this is the case you are correct, perhaps the pages should not have been posted. But, perhaps it would have been better to PM the user who posted the pages instead of posting on a builders thread about them and having nothing to say about his build. Not trying to start anything just something to maybe consider next time you have an issue with something on a thread that the OP had no control over.

back to the thread:

i'm still really looking forward to seeing this come alive. i really enjoy watching people tackle the really big costumes and bringing them to life. watching chimera's iron monger has been a real treat and the sketches you have drawn on here show great promise!! can't wait!

As a matter of fact I did PM the original poster of the images.
I also contacted the MODS.
I also wanted to also make the people who were no doubt copying the images from this thread that the images were being used without Dick's permission.

I don't think my mentioning them derailed this thread anymore than you did by trying to wag a finger at me.:rolleyes

Now back to the thread,
Wow, sounds great.

What Images are you referring to? As for copyright, that has nothing to do with posting something, just means you can't profit off of it. If you're referring to the prints of the mechanical hand....which i think you are, someone posting that would not violate a copywrite. Signing a contract agreeing not to share the info....thats a different matter. Thought from what I recall its a basic design, nothing majorly impressive. I'd see no reason to hide it

And phaeren...i love a challenge. Thinking up ways to do something most don't or haven't its great. Plus as I stated in an earlier post....hulk is one of my favs...want to see it done right. Going for the Incredible Hulk movie look by the way. Going to do my best to replicate the look of the movie hulk(second movie) though because of budet and tech constraints I may have to morph some features. Though me being an artist I feel you can be comfortable in the knowledge that I will make him look proportionate and aesthetically appealing.

To paraphrase Sherlock Holmes, "Everything is easy when it's explained to you".

Not getting into it. I said what I had to say.

Good luck with your build.

That's cool. Im just saying that without seeing the images they posted I came up with a very similar design, until I changed it for a more complex concept. Though clay, im not debating the fact, if they signed a contract they should have stuck to it.

Clayslinger, just checked out your website. Pretty good work. My girl would love the harry potter. Know where I can get one of those stands for sculpting? The ones that holds up the figure while you work

I've removed the images. I bought the books, but didn't take the class and didn't sign the contract. That being said, I don't mind following forum decorum.
