Immortan Joe costume from Mad Max, Fury Road

Yeah. Got it at the hardware store. Easy to bend, comes with holes in it, and only had to drill a few extra holes

It will be interesting to see how easy it is to put on. I needed a lot of flexibility at the joint between the chest/back and the biceps to get it on. This is, though, because I fastened the front and the back of the biceps together permanently. My aluminum tape- over-leather-strap idea really got beat up with just one wearing. I may have to switch to aluminum strip and make the biceps open and close like the forearms.

I am also not sure how you would be able to move your arms at the shoulders (especially above your head) with a rigid strip connecting the biceps armor to the chest/back.

A strip of heavy silver vinyl or leather would be best. It would look like aluminum but still be flexible.

Trial run on the makeup and putting on breast and backplate, mostly sans accoutrement. It's a bit narrow but I think I did an okay job. Came a little heavy with the paint on abs but it'll sand off. Unfortunately, I made the neck fitting a little too narrow and on my third or fourth taking off of the armor I cracked it at the right shoulder almost all the way across the strap! I don't want to make another one so I'm going to attempt to repair it. It may well be a big smear of JB Weld with some moleskin over it and I'll just live with it. Or I may attempt to make a sort of "patch" out of small piece of my .040 PETG? Not sure how well that would work.

My girlfriend did my makeup and I think it looks great, but we got awful results with the color spray for my hair we were using. It was just some whatever stuff we got from a Halloween store, turned out to be pretty garbage. I was hoping to use my real hair. Does anyone has a recommendation of a good temporary hair color spray that works well? Some people have recommended me Kryolan Color Spray and Ben Nye Hairdye, but I thought I'd ask people here what they thought.

Really hard to cover dark hair with light colored products. Kryolan makes great products but you are asking a lot. Good luck!

Hey guys, My build is coming along. Hoping to get this done in time for Halloween. Much thanks to Bigboss1o1 and Logan74K for your hand crafted pieces.

So, I know that the codpiece has been discussed before. But I had a few questions. Is it nothing more the 30 Castle nuts glued to a piece of leather? I know that there are 3 different size Castles nuts. Doesn't that weight a ton? Are there any other options? Maybe lighter options? I tried looking for castle nuts this weekend at lowes and had no luck. Any information will help.

I welded mine. It weighs 6lbs, got the castle nuts from a nut and bolt shop. Yeah 30 nuts. I think everyone else used 3d printing

I had thought about 3d printing but I don't have one and no one got back to me on trying to by any off of them. Shapeways adds up quick and becomes way too expensive. I want to go for authenticity but I have already purchased a couple of important high price pieces. Starting to come down to the wire.

The more I look at reference photos the more I think the codpiece on the original costume is more like a bunch of castle nuts glued to an "athletic cup" shaped base and then cast in resin... adding that much weight just for the codpiece seems really impractical.

(Edit: Removed completely wrong commentary about the type of castle nuts.)
