Immortan Joe costume from Mad Max, Fury Road

well if you do a run, i'll definitely be interested

I'll keep that in mind. I have a couple quotes out at the moment - no doubt this stuff gets cheaper as you order more. If it looks viable I might put an interest thread up.

If I put a run together, would you guys be looking for it to read a particular texas county? I think I see an "LY" at the top as part of a short county name, which would suggest Lynn County, Texas. I can put that on there, but preference might otherwise be to leave that particular bit off. Figured I wasn't going to put anything on the scrollwork, either, since we can't figure out what it says.

yeah, I'm fine with whatever you feel works best, I'm not that concerned about the patch being 100% accurate!

Amazon for the mole skin. 2" wide works great. I am stacking my own patches, but great work on the render, Ein.

Some more fun detective work!

The "NAMIBIA SKELETON COAST" patch that Joe has on his shoulder actually has an origin! I haven't found the patch itself yet, but the skull and crossbones design is the exact same one found on the Ugabmund Gate, which is a landmark of note on the southern entrance of the Skeleton Coast National Park there.

Is there anything else that'd be needed for an embroidered patch run? I know he has some other stuff on his forearms but I haven't a clue. I guess I could get that upside-down "TEXAS" thing done up too.

Ein, feel free to modifiy my stls however you need.

The GX medal in there is probably when I was trying to print a curved medal. I'm finding it a LOT easier to print them flat, and then use a heatgun to form them. So I've been redoing all of mine that way.

I'm going to create a thingiverse account soon and upload all my models to it, as I assume that you all need copies of what I've done as well.

I've updated my 1100 model to actually read 1100, I had thought it said 110c, but that was just the shadow from the thread. So I'm going to swap those out. The rest of the badges I modeled and 3d printed. The very top circular grinder thingie is not accurate to the movie version, but a little customization. It's a scaled down extruder wheel as a little bit of a nod to the fact that so much of this costume is 3d printed.

At some point I'll create my own thread detailing my build, but for now I'll just keep posting here.

This is a very quick modeling of the brass keyhole medal. I'm going to swap it out on my costume for a proper one down the road, but until then I'm using this as a temporary one. I'll upload that as well.

Those shin pieces look gorgeous. I really have to get my own boots done.

That keyhole badge has been a nightmare. I've taken three different stabs at modeling it, myself, and I haven't liked a single one of them. Your take on the model's pretty great, Hamster; for my part, I will probably use the antique keyhole plate that was linked here from eBay earlier. Annoying, though, as I wanted to offer the whole set on Shapeways. I may have to crack open ZBrush and see if I can get the curves worked out.

Here is that eBay key plate with silver rub-n-buff as well as proper cell phone parts:

And Eriks, your keyboard goes in the mail tomorrow.

Hamsterstyle, what's the intended scale on these parts? They seem to open quite tiny. Do you have dimensions of the finished pieces you've got so I can work out a scale?

Hmm weird. For some reason as i'm modeling them they are super small in Blender. I'm learning blender "units" still.

They are scaled to "Scene Units" which I do in CM. Blender defaults to units of Meters, so everything I model ends up being tiny. But If I export the STL with scene units it opens up in CURA for me at the right scale.

I'll double check the measurements on these later. The XL for instance I believe should be 11.674cm long.

EIN, I've modeled up a Skeleton Coast patch in Blender and I'm going to do a 3d print tonight and see how it looks. While Embroidery might be better, I'm going to see how a 3d printed plastic one looks first.

Also, here are a couple pics I found for the leg medals that might be useful to people.

I've tried to figure out the source of the 1100, and I've found stuff that is close, but nothing super accurate yet.

Ein, the shield patch on his forearm is still unaccounted for I believe, patch wise

I read it as a horseshoe or archway, maybe. I don't know. Horseshoe kinda makes sense with all the other car stuff he's got going on, but I cannot track down a clear shot of it to save my life. If I knew what it was supposed to look like I could whip it up nice and quick.

I'm going to start an interest thread shortly for embroidered patches. Frankly, I think the idea of 3d printing the skull patch is a clever one, and I like it - with the right paint and by printing the models in the right orientation, you might even be able to pass off the print lines as embroidery stitching. Still, the few quotes I've gotten back on embroidered patches make me think getting custom patches made wouldn't be unreasonably expensive.
