Unlimited Run IM2 War Machine Helmet Kits

The wait is over! I now have the first set of cast parts out of the mold.

Just because I could, I went ahead and made the faceplate in cold cast aluminum. Here I am buffing it down:

After a few minutes of quality time with the Dremel, I'd trimmed off all of the mold flashing from the parts and slotted them together:

I was very pleased with the result:

Then I underwent my rapid dust removal process:

And tried the whole thing on:

I think it does the trick:

Here's a snapshot of the pieces sitting on my dirty workbench:

I'll be casting additional copies today and I'll start sending paypal invoices to the pre-order folks as soon as each kit is out of the mold and ready to ship.

Now that I'm no longer offering the pre-order price, the kit will cost $210 plus shipping.

Please post here if you'd like to get in on this run and I'll PM you with payment info.

That looks great ! Does iT mean all The faceplates be coldcasted?

I wasn't planning on it. Since the lower lip has to match the color of the faceplate, it'd mean I'll have to cold cast the main body of the helmet as well. Even then, it'll be tough to get into the tight corners and buff the lower lip to match the face.

That said, I'd be willing to make it an option for an additional $25.

Doesn't have to be for me but for 25 extra Yeah thats fine is iT ok to ship to La ( annaheim at end of april friends of mine Will be attending celebration )

Looks amazing... well done!! Looking forward to receiving mine.

Is the triangle emblem raised?

Is the +$25 cold cast option just the faceplate or the whole helmet?

Any tips on prep/painting are welcome as it's my first raw cast project.

Now that I'm casting helmets, I'm sending out PayPal invoices to folks who have sent in deposits. I don't like the way the cold cast surface came out on the first helmet, but if you want yours to include that option, please add an extra $25 to your payment.

Please make sure you send payments as payment for "goods" since that streamlines shipping and makes it easier to keep track of things.

Finally, a couple of folks have sent their deposit as a gift. As a result, Paypal doesn't display the email address and the note doesn't include their username. If you're Clyde H., you're next on the list as soon as I can figure out who you are and how to send you an invoice.

The triangle emblem is just the thickness of a piece of masking tape. With a bit of light sanding it'll go away, I just wanted to make it easier to lay it out for anybody to paint it on.

For the cold cast option, it'll be the faceplate and the lower lip. These are the two parts that end up with a bare metal finish.

Prep is pretty straightforward. You'll need a Dremel or other rotary tool to trim off the excess plastic at the edges. You can do it with a small saw and a file, but it'll take some time.

Once you've trimmed the edges, you'll want to wash all of the parts in warm, soapy water, rinse them clean, and let them dry. You may also decide you want to sand the parts lightly to make the paint stick better. Then spray on a coat of primer and paint it to your liking.

Sent all of them out? Haven't got one.

Oops. Looks like I've missed one. I'm sending them to your paypal addresses, so you should have it now. Unless you're Clyde. Then you need to PM me and tell me your paypal address.

First batch of kits is shipping today.

My next shipment of resin is on it's way.

If you want in on the run, don't delay.

Post here and I'll send a PM telling you how to pay.

Payments received.

I just realized that today is President's Day, so I suppose it'll be a casting day instead of a shipping day.

The next batch will be in the mail tomorrow.

If anybody else wants to get in on this run, please post here and I'll PM you with payment info.
