Identifying Graflex replicas

Hi, this is my first post here ❤️,

I'm looking to build a ANH saber from original parts. I'm hunting for the Graflex 3 cell as my base, but I'm trying to figure out how I can tell if I'm buying a vintage flash and not a replica being sold as vintage like maybe one of those really nice The Graflex Shop replica flashes ???

Also ... I mean I'm not really sure what I should expect to realistically pay for a flash .. and is there an alternative to Ebay?

Thank you in advance for any advice

You could always post pictures here of a potential G R A F L E X 3 Cell you'd like to purchase to ask for assistance identifying it's a genuine vintage flashgun ... mind you no direct links to ebay ... just some pictures used in the auction ... an alternative would to be to post a WTB (Want To Buy) in the appropriate Junkyard section ;)

Yes Scott's thread is super helpful to this day. Nowadays people might add replica parts to an original flash too so be careful.

In person it's easier, I usually sniff the inside.

You can look at the inside of the endcap/bottom can. If the bottom is bright gold or obviously not brazed 80 years ago you've got a replica

yeah , its such a bummer that the repicas are so good that people can pass them of at vintage to peoplelike me who migh not be able to tell the difference.

I'm not saying I want repicas not to be prefect LOL BTW, I just wish folks weren't out there scamming
