Hey guys. I need to get two quick and easy pieces machined out of derlin.

The 2 parts are the same and are pretty simple to machine out of derlin. You can see my drawings here
http://www.therpf.com/attachment.php?attachmentid=5065&stc=1&d=1189141199

I also need someone with a late to do some quick light cleanup work for me on some resin parts. It will literally take 25 minutes on a lathe.

If anyone here can help me out I would really apreciate it.

Thanks alot

Can´t help you, BUT I´m curious what project you need these parts for?!

These grills look alot like the ones that go on a specific EP1 blaster.

That's a spacer piece for a Darth Maul saber. Drawing is labeled "DM Space".

Why DELRIN? (and it is Delrin, not Derlin, btw) That stuff is expensive and doesn't get you anything other than the opportunity to use your part as a low-friction bushing.

Is that what the original was made from?

I only ask because you are so specific in the request when it could just as easily be cut from a slug of black resin. Just curious.

Gordon,

Thanks for the reply.

I requested derlin because this spacer is going with a resin darth maul kit and I wanted a material that was similar, but actually any machinable plastic or resin would do. I just specificied derlin because I know some machinists seem to have this on hand.

So to clarify, it doesn't have to be derlin. Almost any platic will do.

Thanks

We can probably do it for you. We use industrial grade delrin for gun components, etc. and we have a full machine shop. I ran it by the machinist. He wanted to know what the overall length spec was, or should he just add the lengths of the "wafers" together? Also, what is the +/- tolerance?

PM me and we can go over the details. We have delrin in hand.

Just curious, wouldn't a stack of nylon washers suffice?
Hiring a machinist for this part seems kind of overkill to me if this is to be used to repair a resin lightsaber.
