I need information about Cast Rifles

My son is in the Young Marines and they need a suitable replica of a rifle to practice drill.

They would have to be light but durable.

I don't know much about cast replicas so I would like to know which process would work best for this application.

I don't think resin is the way to go, I'm leaning toward a rubber foam / machined parts hybrid.

If you have any opinions please post below.

These would have to be slightly smaller then normal rifles since the Young Marines age range is 8-18.

They have a painted toy rifle that is the correct size that could be used for a master

We would need about 6 of them but if they work out and are reasonably priced I'm sure many of the other Young Marine Units would be interested in buying them for their units.

If you have the capability to produce replica rifles please email me at bobadebt@ec.rr.com

Thanks

Why not make it entirely out of wood? Or maybe wood with an aluminum tube for a barrel.

How about one of the Hyperfirms??:confused They pop up from time to time and although I'm not sure of how many different weapons were made in Hyperfirm, they might be suitable provided the version.

You may want to consider looking at some of the commercially available parade and drill team practice rifles. I haven't shopped for drill rifles in years, so I don't know what the going rate is, but the link below has a couple of examples:

I haven't done business with this company, but even the nicer rifles are only around $65. You might even find something cheaper if you shop around a bit.

They have some drill rifles but they cost $69 each.

I was hoping to get a rough cast for around half of that but I don't think that's feasible
