Second thread here, this one not as involved as the T Rex build but I figured it would be a fun post in the spirit of the holidays. Back during covid I came upon some raw castings of three of the Jack Skellington stop motion heads (I'm still looking for others btw ). These were raw resin casts that had pretty big seam lines and it was close to Christmas so I wanted to do a special display as a Christmas gift to my fam out of state (Who are huge NBC fans).
I used a off the shelf dremel with a stock sanding bit to smooth out the seam line and used a fine grain piece of sanding paper to blend it all together. Once that was done I chose a baseball display case from Michaels which had three pegs meant to display three baseballs so I started treating the box by cleaning it and painting the clear plastic pegs matte black.
Once that was done I started working on painting the heads themselves. For the most part this was fairly straight forward as I picked a satin eggshell white for the main base of the head. The eyes were finished with a black spray mist but because of how far receded they were it made the process easier. Finally for the mouth I thought about using a fine paint brush but settled on a fine point marker pen the draw in the teeth lines along Jack's mouth.
Will post more in a few as I gather more photos. Again, this will be a faster and quicker post then usual but I haven't seen too many Nightmare Before Christmas builds here and even less with the maquette stop motion heads. So here's to a fun time.
