I hate ST Discovery

Like when "they" try to cancel for example Gina Carano. Sure, I definitely don't agree with some things she and many other people have said in interviews and in social media posts. So what?

She is an actor and I think she does her job really well. A plus is she appears to be liked by her colleagues. Let her do her job.

Opinions are like... and everyone's got one. Equality is a good thing, right?
Let everyone speak their mind, then you can easily tell which people you want to avoid.

In TNG Barclay was an outcast of sorts. Sure, he could have been treated better. But he was treated a hell of a lot better than some people on STD.
Even Barclay was less idiotic than some of the crew of Discovery, you didn't get the "message" the over the top crap treatment in Discovery is the bullying that everyone is a victim of today. Just like in WW84 where the cat girl gets treated like garbage and ignored by the "cool people" especially the so cool asian guy, as if anyone who works at a museum was cool in high school or anywhere else. I think that the reason Cobra Kai is so popular is because in reality everyone knows the cure for bullying is not love or talking or zero tolerance for fighting, the cure is fighting, fists, going to GNC buying creatine and lifting weights and building your own gang, but thats a different show

Burnham is like Trek ***** able and required to be the only one able to solve problems. I've watched all 3 seasons and let me tell you they have succeeded in getting worse. I like the Mirror Uni characters Michelle Yeoh and Jason what'shis name bad guy from the first season. The bad guy everyone complained about being too "dark". The way they disposed of Yeoh's character was trash compared to exceptionally high grade trash. If you didn't like the ship designs from the first 2 seasons the "upgrades" in the 3rd will blow your WTF fuse.

Bumping this thread from last year, wow, how bad is Discovery S4! Stuck through the first three seasons due to a notion of brand loyalty, but now, watched the first two eps and fast forwarded through much of ep 3. You wonder how the Federation managed to survive for nearly 1000 years without the timely overwatch of the sainted Burnham! Can’t decide if it’s the flame throwers built into the bridge design which activate during times of peril, or the rocks which are stored in Lockers over the heads of the crew, which shake loose during conflict! ep 3 is where I’ve given up. No more. Was buying each episode separately on Prime, but won’t continue. Disco is dead to me. Let’s see how Picard fares.

May your number grow and their ratings or whatever metric they use crater.

I tried to watch the first season of Discovery and it was bad. Decided to watch Picard. Big mistake. Then I started watching (again) TNG, Voyager, DS9 and Enterprise.

I thought first 3 seasons were alright, I just see it as a Trek "like" show.
but the current Season 4 is a real bore, with over dramatised soap events, and Burnham being asked, if she is loyal to the Federation for the millionth time.
The whole, being "attacked" by an unknown species is just not exciting at all, en they keep on delaying any form of excitement with boring soap stuff.

And the new uniforms make them look like grandparents, the older were nice sleek and formfitting, these are too big stiff and bulky.

I enjoyed the first two seasons of this. The third season started to lose me a bit, and then the “cause” of the main events driving season three was so awful that I almost stopped watching.

This season, though? Just awful. The story is boring. It’s slow. There hasn’t been enough revealed, just always more questions. I stopped watching after their mid-season break.

I had really hoped this season would get away from the “threat to the galaxy” season long narrative, and maybe have a bit of one episode adventures...but they just seem like they can’t get away from doing one main story and only focusing on that.

I still laugh at how offended people are by it, though. I’ve lost interest, so I stopped watching...that’s all...but it’s hilarious to see people just whine non-stop about how bad it is.

Plenty of non-star trek fans.
Seen plenty of comments on the official Star Trek Instagram account saying things like.
"Never could get into any other trek shows, but Disco is awesome".

It's definitely made by non-Trek fans for non-Trek fans.

As an almost Trek fan, there are definitely things I liked about DSC. But since season 3, the air has somehow completely gone out of it. Moreover, Burnham is simply not a character for whom I can develop any sympathy or antipathy. She's annoying, but her screen time is more pleasant than the one with Tilly.

I find some of the designs quite good. The look of the series is ok and there were some nice storylines. But on the whole, DSC is now as much fun for me as VOY or much of TNG and DS9, none at all.

Star Trek is a perpetual cycle. You have a universe with many possibilities, but you keep telling the same stories with the same people. This counterproductive fanservice is an absolute disaster, especially in the sci-fi genre. You hardly dare to do anything new and when something new does come along, it's woke diversity that simply doesn't look natural, but very artificial and inorganic.

I would even prefer the 24th century. Three times the same series, with aliens of the week, few character twists. Weekly change from skill level 9000 to skill level brainless, depending on which engineer was responsible for the disaster of the current episode.

As of today, The Orville is the best Star Trek, even though it is not Star Trek. But it manages to tell a reasonably coherent story episodically. It has interesting characters who seem like real living beings, something ST hasn't managed since TOS. And it respects Roddenberry's vision the most.

I signed up for Paramount + yesterday under their $2.00 a month promo. I started to rewatch Discovery season 2 and episode 1 was better than I remembered. I haven’t seen seasons 3-4 yet.

I got Paramount mainly for Picard, 1883 and Strange New Worlds.

They are now putting actual current American politicians on the show and presenting them as President of Earth.

I'm sure they will give equal time to all politicians. LOL
It is really distasteful and poor form to use the show as a partisan platform for contemporary politics and its associated personalities.

I prefer my contemporary “personalities” to be utilized like the they were on “TOS” and placed into roles like Melvin “King of Torts” Belli who wore a shower curtain / mumu and played a demon summoned by children…
