How to Build a Flux Capacitor.

This is going on my "To-Do" list. Nuff said.

Beautiful work :) Can't wait to see it finished! it's something I might actually be able to do myself!

He did great on those acrylic relay tubes. I have a mold of original tubes and the castings still don't look as good as those replicas do.

This is one of the best tutorials on the RPF.
This should be archived.

Having been turned off by how expensive (and apparently inaccurate the Diamond Select Toys Flux Capacitor) is, I'll definitely be giving this tutorial a go. Fantatic detail and improvision.

Great job on the Flux Capacitor. I seen one at comic con years ago and thought it was very cool. Thanks for the photos.

They are 1/2" labels on the Flux. The label maker is a Rotex, not a Dymo (as most people think) - they differ on the "Y" in the font. And the correct red color tape is also made by Rotex. I bought some vintage, but it's a bit tricky to get hold of.

How do I know this? I sat on eBay for 2 years buying up every make/model of embossing labeller and tape until I had it right.

Thanks for the correction mate :)
Kind regards Jason.

Yeah, and there are different Rotex fonts. The "Rotex Universal MK II" prints italic, the "Rotex Industrial" have the wrong "R", so I went with with the cheap plastic "Rotex Hobby" one day, and guess what, they seem to print correct :) But are only 3/8 :(

Hey McFly, McFly?

WTF? MyFluxCapacitror is my website. I'm guessing you don't know the first thing about web etiquette or Copyright for that matter. You've proceeded to copy almost my entire web site into this forum.

Geeze, it's on every page "Copyright © 2011 www.myfluxcapacitor.com"

I'm sure it's an oversight, but what were you thinking? You guys should know better.

Moderator, please remove as soon as possible. I welcome you all to my site and encourage the exchange here of ideas on how to build a flux capacitor. Links are great to drive traffic and encourage other to get into the hobby, but you cannot copy everything carte-blanche.

Thanks,
Dan

OR - you could understand that the people here hold your website in extremely high regard as well as your contributions to the craft, and join us in playing in this particular sandbox in addition to the one you created. Just a thought.

Nowhere on this site did you see anyone deriding your work or knocking it. And btw, if you put it on the internet, really - do you expect people *not* to share it??? Come on now.

What I cannot understand is grabbing every picture and all the text and putting it here. You must understand how wrong that is, right? Besides breaking this site's rules, it defeats the whole purpose of my site, as a place you can go to watch the progress of my flux capacitor.

I expect people to share, but share the link, or a picture or two, not repost it in it's entirety someplace else. I noticed a forum on this site where you discuss people recasting props and how bad it is for the hobby. Well, this is no different!

Believe me, I read all the comments and appreciate everyone of them. I just figured one of you would have seen what was happening and suggested that it stop. I hope you understand.

Jason,

It's not just a guideline, it's the law. Thanks for the apology. We're cool.

on photobucket should allow you to see the build i did step by step along with some other items in the other albums - it may calm some of the stress caused above from the other site - which i also did use as a reference when building mine - so my step by step uk guide is in my pb account that you guys are welcome to view

not 100% accurate as i was fighting with parts simply not available to me - so i had to improvise on other builds esp with tfc switch where a dayton switch is too expensive to import, and the lack of alphanumeric displays available in the uk ( i would have had to buy 900 units just to use 9 of the displays - so had to use a 7 seg to display the month)

and this was flux number 2: but as i didnt have the wallet to import another stahlin box (price triples to get one to the uk) so i recreated one - this one is the one pulsing on the mantlepiece in photobucket and is surplus to my needs now - only pics i have were from an old ebay link before i removed it due to lack of interest.
