The front football Weaver scope ring in the VD pic is rotated a little further towards us than the rear one, that's why its thumb wheel appears larger than the rear one.

Dann very true but it’s still does look off sized. The space on either side of the back one looks proportionally bigger than the space on the front still? Strange

also what does VD stand for?

The VD is the book Visual Dictionary.
Dann, pretty sure the front thumb ring is still bigger, you can see it takes more place on the ring itself horizontaly, no way the forward rotation would do that. :)

Thanks for the info. Is that book worth picking up? I have SW chronicles and few other gems but I skipped that one.

Ya that’s what I see as well. Again this first pic is only modified to make the weavers bigger and bring them closer together to better see the spacing. In relation to each other nothing has been changed. One has not been enlarged. In the last pic I did enlarge the back weaver (marginally) so the spacer behind the wheels were equally sized..

very nice :)
to answer a couple questions, I don't have the old VD myself so I hope someone can tell you (us) if it's worth getting.
Concerning the "bells" on the compac, they just thread on the part under them, so they don't spin freely after they are completely threaded.
cheers

I thought maybe they clicked for wind and distance or something? Tighten the screws to much and it wont spin but it’s kind of fun when it does..

I’ve built this blaster once before but this time its going to be with some updated grips that better represents what was actually seen on this prop..

The material I choose to print this in is the basic white. Probably should have chosen the detailed plastic as some of the details are now lost but it still should work pretty well though. We’ll see I guess. There is a bit of a gap between the grips and the denix so I just added some filler..

I think grips came out pretty good. This is the first time I’ve tried my hand at painting “wood” style looking grips. I went a pretty basic route. Primer without sanding anything but the edges and very lightly at that. Then covered it with brown and then rubbed on some black. After it dried I then sanded everything as light as possible with 400 grain sandpaper..

That looks great!

Today I got around to priming & sanding the mount as well as sanding the polished plastic printed parts. For the grips I added the escutcheon screws. But I need to add some filler in the back to keep them from being pulled to far forward..
