it would be cool if someone from RS could pop in & put the record straight regarding the face plate origin
just to dispel all the doubt & possible misinformation

If I'm not mistaken, RSprop used a prototype helmet made by ILM for Don Post (when the brand developped its Deluxe line). But I'm not 100% sure of this information.

And if I remember well, Mark sculpted some parts for his TIE pilot helmet (ears box, mohawk), used a real APH helmet and reworked his ANH faceplate. But again, I could be wrong and he would deliver better informations on his own stuff.

Here's a comparison pics between RSprop (on the left) and CFO (on the right). I'm sorry, I finished both helmet in different way and the light isn't the same. But I really liked to work on both quality kits!!!

I have been considering to get Tie Helmet helmet recently but I have the same doubts like everybody else so some clarification on the origins of the faceplate would be great. I also think Mark helmet has the closest look to the originals.

I think some are getting lost in the time line.

-RS had access to the Don Post prototype, which had correct pilot dome but ROTJ recast face. Therefore RS went with their own ANH trooper face for the Tie helmet that had been offered thus far.

- The hero helmet that RS is offering now has a faceplate that was taken from another Tie Pilot.

-Now they can combine the pilot top parts they got from the DP proto and the new faceplate , and you get a full lineage Tie Pilot, full lineage AT-AT driver and when they combine the faceplate with their original trooper cap you get a full lineage Hero Stromtrooper as well.

Its really not questionable if you organize the time line and the facts.

But it is important to point out they haven't updated the TIE pilot with the hero faceplate yet. I am hoping they do.

As far as the AT-AT, I suspect there will still be plenty of additional parts that are not direct lineage from anything Lucasfilm made. "Full lineage" seems like an overstatement.
