I'm sorry but this whole season really let me down, I was holding out hope the finale would bring something to the table that would somewhat save it, but I was severely dissapointed. This has been one of my favorite shows ever, but I just think the writers have lost their touch. I am SO tired of the whole "who is dating who" that every episode seems to center around now. The actual cases are just secondary now, with no clever twist to them, and House himself just doesnt seem to care anymore. The characters go through these supposade life-changing experiences (House's quitting vicodin, Wilson's fiancee dying, Chase killing that dictator, etc.), but then a handful of episodes later they are just back to themselves, like nothing happened. I thought Cuddy ending up with him was THE WORST move they could make. The show thrived on the unspoken relationship the two had, and that nothing was enough to make House stop being the jerk he was and grow up. THATS WHAT THE SHOW WAS. Now thats gone. I know things have to change over time, it just seems now that one episode has very little to do with another.

RANT OVER.

Thoughts?

Well, from the beginning of the season the writers have stated that it was inevitable for them to end up together in some way this season. I just expected it to be earlier.

I agree that this season lacked a lot of punch compared to others. I personally would have had House lose BOTH patients. As for him and Cuddy, we'll see. Usually when a couple on a series get together, that series crashes and burns (See Moonlighting). It's like they don't know how to write for an established couple, they seem to believe that Romance, Sexual tension, and flirting doesn't exist in an established relationship. If it didn't, my marriage would be boring.

There definitely has been a different dynamic to the show after the new staff came in, but I don't think it's that bad. I actually like the fact that the writers are trying to focus more on the characters than the cases (but it's somewhat disappointing that the cases this seasons haven't been "wow" inducing).

I was actually expecting House to change a bit after the institutionalization, but I agree he seemed to just revert back to his old self, sans the vicodin popping, with just more leg rubbing. I suppose the little things he did showcased how he was working to try and change, but it really didn't seem like much until the penultimate episode with the therapy session.

I did, however, enjoy a majority of the Taub relationship episodes. I was really mad at him when he slept with the nurse after everything he and his wife were going through. The "Wilson" and "Cuddy" episodes - the ones that followed them around for the day - were great as well (though Cuddy's "YES!" scream and camera effects at the end of her episode was so cheesy and ruined the whole episode for me... lol).

Regarding the House/Cuddy relationship... I don't know what to think. Yeah, it was inevitable that they were going to get together, but I'm wondering if the writers are going to handle it well next season. I'm just hoping the show doesn't turn into something like Grey's Anatomy. :angry

We actually quit watching the show after the past couple of years. Didn't like the new cast or the entire feel of the show. The medicine got really boring it was either: Lups, an auto immue disease, cancer, or some blolod borne pathogen *yawn*

We actually just started watching an episode here and there again and think it's better than the past two seasons. Regadless House has "jumped the shark and is on it's way out.

We're hooked on "Bones" now.

I agree with this, to a point, but there was definitely a change in the way they wrote House's character this season. House has always been a miserable s.o.b., but there was also a good deal of "wise guy" humor in his character that disappeared after he went through rehab and stopped taking Vicodin. Now he's just a miserable s.o.b.; much of the humor present in previous seasons is lacking in this season. It may have been done intentionally to show House has changed now that he's no longer addicted to Vicodin, but IMO the show has become much less entertaining.

Not to me... I've watched it for years and never felt it was crashing and burning. Nip/Tuck... Now that crashed and burned hard!! AND FAST!

I loved House but feel it is time to hang it up... they have definitely lost/played out the things that made the show special... and I get tired of the subtle agendas that keep being pushed. It was ok to start with but got old fast. I really think the show would have ended perfectly with House going to the institution and that being it... never knowing how it all came out.

I don't watch house at all but I watched the finale just to see if I could spot aliasing from the canon 5dmkii

If you meant lupus...

Except for that one episode where it was :lol

I liked the season opener and then I started watching this season only when I was in (made no attempt to catch up). I did watch the season finale and I loved it. I thought it was great to see House caring for the patient. I thought it was great that the patient didn't survive. It was just heart breaking to see the reaction of both House and the patient when they know there's no way out.

Lets not forget the episode in season 4 where he literally "jumped the shark" - you think the writers were trying to tell us something?
