Re: Homemade Clone Trooper Armor

Nice work on this scratch build! Its refreshing to see original work. Your attention to accuracy is commendable. The only thing I would say is the pectoral region seems to be lacking in curvature in comparison to the CG model. Also, the length between the top edge of the pec to the bottom fold seems to be a bit short. Still, this is great work, can't wait to see this completed.

Re: Homemade Clone Trooper Armor

Thanks for your comment! I tried to achieve the best accuracy with the lowest number of planes. The paper has it's limits ;)

Re: Homemade Clone Trooper Armor

So you did those initial cardboard/paper templates... free hand???

Holy crap dude. That is really impressive! Seriously looking awesome! :)

Re: Homemade Clone Trooper Armor

Thanks OldKen! Yes I did, and I'm really proud with the result :)

Continuing my unorthodox methods, I'd like to show you my idea about how I'm making flexible shoulder straps:
First, I made a base mold with (guess what?) paper
Snapshot14.jpg

Then I used balsa wooden stick (4mmx4mm)

I cut into small pieces

And glued it on the paper

I will fill the mold with this (white sealer)

I will add plastic straps to reinforce it, and wait 1 or 2 weeks to dry.

Do you think this technic will work?

^_^

... I really miss my camera

Re: Homemade Clone Trooper Armor

Here's a little update about the shoulder straps... Not as good as I was expecting, and not as good as steelblitz's ones (not even close)
Flexible homemade shoulder straps

maybe too flexible :p
Snapshot21.jpg

I will use a plastic strap to reinforce it

At least it fits

Maybe later I will replace or remake them ^_^

...I really miss mi camera

Re: Homemade Clone Trooper Armor

color me stunned blue ... this is turning out really good ... not bad for a shoulder strap made from caulking ... you did a great job on it .... never would have thought of that one myself ... your armor is great ... gotta tell ya i kinda like the black look of it ... keep it up

Re: Homemade Clone Trooper Armor

Clever idea with the straps. You could also put something in the silicone while it was wet for strength, like screen door mesh.
