Limited Run Holocron/Kit

First four kits are on the way. I'm in middle of a show (supposed to be the last this year, yippee!) so be a couple of weeks before the next batch ships. I'll make it as quick as I can.

Also need to finish off those instruction sheets!

Mine showed up today, so glad I didn't miss this! What a wonderful job of organizing when shipping. Everything was wrapped beautifully and numbered. I have something to do this weekend!

Thank you for doing this run, you know once this run is over my disciples and I are going to haunt you for a sister sith holocron! ;)

Thanks for everything!

Awesome, looking forward to seeing the completed holocron :thumbsup for a Sith holocron :D

I can't believe how honest nomuse is. Wicked good guy. Look how organized everything was packaged. I'm very very impressed and look forward to more of his runs

Thanks....but honestly, the numbers are dating -- I've made so many tweaks to the design I had to start tracking how recently I'd run a set of parts off.

Do tell me if anything went missing or is damaged. This first set of boxes is the trial run for packing.

Finally seeing light at the end of this tech. Will be back to taking pictures this weekend and have the rest of the instructions completed then. (The theater even took the clip light I was using to take pictures with....!)

If there is still a chance to jump on this run without causing too much inconveniences I'd be interested in a "Stolen B" kit without module. :)

Mine didn't come with a diffuser block, looks like the white walls in the instruction plans? I read and under the impression you don't use the white diffuser block anymore right?

Also, do you mind explaining to me the blue sensor wire? Does that get glued to the top plate inside the holocron? What is the purpose of this wire?

Also, when not on display, do you recommend putting the holocron upside down so it turns off?

I was fooling around with the electronics last night, what a wicked setup!!

Nomuse, quick question I'm fooling around with the electronics today. If I plug the battery in she lights right up

Does the circuit go into sleep mode? Or do u have to turn the holocron upside down to shut it off?

Also is it cool to charge this with a cell phone charger u plug into the wall or should it be charged with USB into the computer?

Also last question of the day I swear! Lol

How long does it take to charge the battery?

Did some sanding today

Ive learned the hard way... using the same epoxy I used on assembling the cage. It left big stains on the blue acrylic.... use very little dabs of epoxy or yours will look like this..

It really can't be seen when illuminated, but while it's just sitting there static it looks horrible... live and learn I guess

Entirely my fault for not having the instructions ready to go already. I'll replace the damaged parts at my cost. Here's the next page (hopefully it loads up on first try this time):

The final pages on installing and working with the lighting module are going up as soon as I can complete them -- be patient with your kits and I'll try to make sure everything is properly explained.

(Oh, and the C style is officially on. Decided for the best Kanan Jarrus/Star Wars Rebels screen match I want to vector engrave the detail work into the diffusion pieces. Could be a month before that's ready to go, though)

you are the man!

And the last two pages of instructions. I'll also post these to the first page of this thread. Next -- a video explaining the various features of a completed Holocron...

Lousy video is up: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gajk-_GCYAQ

I need a real webcam (doing it on the laptop's built-in camera is a pain).

Just finished soldering up the first of the next batch of circuit boards. So far the v1.3 boards check out and I will be able to order enough of them now to finish all the outstanding orders for lighting modules. (The 1.3 is a point upgrade mostly for easier assembly; larger solder pads, etc.) I'll be shipping out two more completed holos and the next batch of six kits within the week, then I'll take a little time to revise the files for Temple and Stolen B styles, as well as start on the Kanan Jarrus. Sorry this thing is going so slow but each kit is 3-4 hours of laser time and even the lighting module takes a couple hours to assemble and test.

Collecting valid shipping addresses for the next batch of kits. Six going out this week, then a couple weeks delay while more circuit boards arrive. We're still on "Stolen A" style; Kanan Jarus is coming, as well as Temple/Gallifrey styles. IM me with shipping details and confirmation of Stolen A kit. I'll be contacting Dr Jedi and StarHelix via IM to confirm purchase of fully assembled models (two of those will be going out this weekend.)

Halliwax, per our discussion in IM I can send off a fresh set of non-engraved inner pieces this week, but you might want to wait to see how the Kanan Jarrus works out (same pieces, but a vector engraved pattern on the front faces...you'll see when I have my prototype assembled).

PM sent good sir! :thumbsup

Hmmm I'm on the hook for a Stolen A kit but is there a way I can pause until the Kanan one comes out?

A minor software addition -- the version 1.3 boards finally have the user buttons enabled.

How it works is like this; by pressing SEL you cycle through four variables that can be somewhat adjusted. The variables are capacitive sensor sensitivity, rate of the pulse effect, depth of the pulse effect, and overall brightness of the lighting during the pulse effect (the "talk" animation is unaffected by these variables). When a variable is selected one or more of the LEDs will flash pink at regular intervals to remind you. Tap the INC and DEC buttons to change the value of the variable.

If you like the result, hold down the SEL button and the LEDs will flash green twice; this means the new values have been read into EEPROM and the Holocron will use the new values each time it is booted up. If you don't like them, just reboot; nothing will be saved. If you change your mind after writing into the EEPROM all is not lost; merely hold down the SEL button whilst booting the Holocron and it will restore to "factory" state.
