Hobo with a Shotgun!

Now, I did a search on the forums first before posting this, but I didn't pull up any results. So, I figured I'd go ahead and start sharing this.

So, if you haven't heard of this upcoming movie, I'll give you a brief history and explanation. So, let us set the Wayback Machine to 2007.

Robert Rodriguez and Quentin Tarantino held a contest that many filmmakers entered into. This contest was meant to promote their double-featured retro-film, Grindhouse (which combined not just their films Planet Terror and Death Proof together, but also was accompanied by many faux "grindhouse" trailers shot by some of the current filmmakers such as Rob Zombie, Eli Roth and Edgar Wright). Though out of all the interesting trailers that came out, including Kill Your Killer, Scourge of the Undead and Bad Kitty just to name a few, it was like what was stated in Highlander: There can be only one. The trailer that won was called Hobo With a Shotgun.

It was exclusively shown with the Canadian release of Grindhouse. And thanks to the Internet, not only did the trailer get many views, it was even parodied. And after many fans of the trailer asked, Jason Eisener said he would consider making the trailer into a feature length film.

Now, after a year and some change, he finally posted some updates letting people know that Hobo with a Shotgun is now in production, even featuring a well-known actor.
I've decided to start this thread in hopes we can talk about the film. If you haven't seen the original trailer or heard anything about it, here are some links for you to check out.

I wouldn't say it was exclusively shown with the Canadian release. When I saw Grindhouse here in the U.S. of A. back in 2007, Hobo With a Shotgun! was one of the faux trailers included.

Well, it wasn't in the release that was shown in Florida. I sat through the full experience, twice, and both times it wasn't included (not to mention that Starz showned the full experience too, which indicates that for the U.S. release, it was not included). And according to all known texts on the web, including information from the original trailer's maker (and the director of the upcoming film), it was only released in Canada.

Intriguing...I wonder if our local theater somehow received the wrong copy. :confused

Even so, if you managed to see a copy of it with the original "Hobo with a Shotgun" trailer, than you are a lucky person. The only other time it was shown on the big screen, especially in the U.S., was at the Alamo Drafthouse for the original competition and judging.

I'm definitely going to see it. Don't get me wrong, I love movies that have solid stories, but I also occasionally like the mind-less stuff too.

How about this? The Internet Movie Firearm Database now has the Hobo with a Shotgun gun information up from what is seen in the trailer (and even includes the info for the shotgun used in the original trailer with David Brunt).

And, also, according to the official website, the original Hobo with a Shotgun trailer may be viewable in the Grindhouse Blu Ray DVD release.

The Alamo Drafthouse in downtown Austin had a full sized Hobo with a Shotgun arcade cabinet in the lobby when I was there on Tuesday... Wasn't plugged in, but it looks like it probably played a version of the iOS game:
