Wow, those were some seriously thrown together suits! :lol I never realized just how bad they actually looked compared to today's standards.

I thought it was Joe Johnston. :confused

Anyone know for sure?

Joe Johnston was the Spacetrooper, I thought it was Peter Diamond in the costume promo shots too but I can't remember where that comes from.

I know Peter Diamond was one of the Tuskens - and he was one of the "stunt" stormtroopers (and by stunt...I mean stuntman).

I thought at the time that they did the space trooper shot they only had one suit available - so I only assumed they did the promo pics with Joe Johnston - but who's to say it wasn't someone else in the suit for the promo shots.

Who ever it was in that suit, thanks for the shot! I love photos like this because it shows that the originals weren't flawless and probably wouldn't hold up to todays expectations. Excellent contribution!

The funny thing that a costume like this whould never bee accepted in the 501st. And to me its ironic because of these cannon and non cannon laws they enforce so strictly. its double moral.

I whould in fact dare to say non stormtrooper armor is accurate compared to this standard. :angel

oooohhh I am just playing far fetch here ):lol

IMO the 501st standards for Stormtroopers is low on the accuracy side. I believe it's because for a while FX was about the only armor that anyone could easily purchase without jumping through many hoops and paying a hefty price. And for that reason, many members have FX and are happy with it.

But for those who want that canon look it is encouraged (mainly in the detachments)- those standards are just not required.

I actually like the rugged look of that trooper and it's something I strive to obtain. It shows more character.

The standards are always changing and the bar is sometimes raised. We are very supportive of anyone who wants to try to join and will help them out in any way they need. I really don't think the 501st is that strict when it comes to joining. If anything, sometimes I feel they should be a little more strict... again these are my opinions.

I would elaberate further, but I feel that it's in poor form. I love the 501st and the work that we do, and I don't want it to seem like I am downing it in anyway.

not meaning to hijack, but i know to even look decent as a stormie its gonna run ya 500 ish bucks easy (im surprised that they would turn away anyone that would want to volunteer, no matter how crummy thier costume since these aint cheap)...

Man That left knee plate look like saws teeth on the top side!!!!!!!!!! That couldnt have been comfortable!

Great pic. Really shows a lot of detail.

I actually still have that poster in a safe place!!

Thanks for posting.
