Heroes Of Cosplay, Fellow Hunter In Trailer!

I'm looking forward to the new season of Face/Off.

I some how got my Mom hooked on the show, and now it's been a weekly thing where we watch it together. She really likes the show.

I got a few emails and some calls to be on that new FX show....reality TV isn't my thing.    i love my job and i enjoy my hobby.
Good to hear you're not selling out or caving in Andrew,  (y) and I agree with you, it's way better as a hobby.

As for the original topic, I finally caved in and watched an episode...    my time would have been better spent pulling the hairs on my head out one at a time.  Big egos and allot of   if you ask me.  Needless to say, I'll not watch it again!  (n)

I decided to watch this show, "Heroes of Cosplay" after I saw my Facebook feed explode with negativity. I thought, "you know, what could be so bad?" Well, a lot... apparently.

One thing that I noticed, was the complete LACK of any male Cosplayers. I guess they're just not as much of ratings grabbers as a pair of **** and catfights, followed by multiple breakdowns, and questioning life choices.

The program excels at showing just how horrible Cosplayers are at planning. Seriously -- let's put a complicated costume together in 2.5 days, then cry when you don't win the $1000 cash prize. That's not what I thought Cosplay was... I mean, I thought people actually put thought and work into their pieces. Not throwing everything together at the last minute, and 'hoping' it will look bad ass.

I sat through the entire hour, and thought to myself; "Self, this isn't fun... this is work. A job. This is a job for these people; and apparently, validation." Because, you know, god-*******-forbid you should have a "9-5 job" like the rest of us puny mortals.

Ego. Yeah, there's a lot of it, but you kind of have to have it to be doing this kind of stuff. Though, it gets a little annoying at times because I have to deal with a ****-ton of ego on a daily basis; and I'm not thrilled to see it saturate my television viewing. I could go on about all of the Facebook "like" pages, and all of the shameless self-promotion therein, but I won't.

Bottom line is, I know tons of people who work hard for months at a time to create fantastic pieces and costumes; who do not feel the need to be the center of attention, or sell pictures of themselves.  More importantly, would not go on television (let alone the SyFy network) to get exposure and promote themselves. Honestly, the art should speak for itself... not how much of your boobs you can get away with showing, or how short your skirt is.

Much like "Face/Off," this show is a horrible misrepresentation of the actual art, and should be taken for nothing other than pure entertainment. I really wish "Heroes of Cosplay" would showcase more work from other people in the community. The only Predator I saw, was a quick cut of Spencer Doe's suit. Not nearly long enough for the suit to read, and it was more of a "what the **** was that?" moment.

This **** is a train wreck.
That guy with the handlebar moustache is a horrible propbuilder. That Trooper was sort of impressive. But not really.
Yaya hamface has a massive ego.
Nigiri, Nigeria or whatever and her wannabe sexy lapdog are ridiculous.

But I'm most disappointed in the lonely neck beards that feed their egos by buying their stupid ass pictures. I cant understand how people are famous of off what's basically fanart. Well I can, but i dont want to.

The only person I enjoyed in that show was the Lydia Deetz girl, she was just enjoying herself.

It's like you were reading my mind Rob.  o_O  Er, wait... you don't read minds do you.  *dammit, where'd I put my tin foil hat???   o_O It absolutely does NOT portray 'cosplay' (damn I hate that word) as it really is, and in my opinion gives people the wrong ideas.  HaHa, or YaYa, or whatever she's called drones on and on about 'craftsmanship' and quality, yet seems to over look the fact that achieving a professional level of craftsmanship takes longer than 2 days.  I used to follow her on FB, and can tell you that the costumes that she 'gives the impression of creating over night' take weeks and months (according to her update pics).  I'll not watch it again.  I also have to wonder who in the hell would have ever thought this was a good idea.

It's a shame, because all of those people who don't do what we do, and who want to see what it's all about, probably turn to this, what's on tv. And they get a dose of this. Now, they're thinking "so this is what they do? It only takes about two days to make an amazing costume?" "Huh, doesn't sound too sacrificing and painstaking to me." Those shows just make us all look bad. :(

I actually really like the format Face/Off has used this season and last season. As for Heroes of Cosplay, I think it's great that there is a TV show about something that really interests my wife and I. I wish they would have geared the show more like Face/Off (obviously not with such a time crunch), rather give the cosplayers certain challenges and over the season watch their builds. Without a doubt there is incredible talent on that show (curly mustache has no real business being on the show IMO though), and it would have been awesome to watch them build their costumes, get tips on molding, choosing proper fabrics, the does and don'ts of building with worbla etc.
Unfortunately the producers decided to with creating false drama and made a fandom seem really shallow and very cutthroat.

Watched this show from Australia thinking do they really do this over there and call it cosplay? I'm glad its crap to you guys lol most of you have said what I have felt about it. What a bunch of bitches!

Well Now i feel a little stupid after reading all this bad feed
I was asked to be a contestant on the final episode in Kansas City, Since i liver here. And i brought 2 predators and they asked me to do a skit. and it would be on the show. I met all the girls on the show and they are for the mostly part time fabricators attempting to break into the business. and total twits.
Now as for me I was the ARTIC PREDATOR Battling my buddy in another of my suits.
The contest was a total joke there were only 5 entries the others were so stupid they didn't even show on TV. and those Bitchs that dressed up as the 12 Dr who's were a completle NIGHTMARE. it's a good thing they didn't say any thing to me i would have slapped that fat bitch out of her wig !!! And if you could believe it she won best fabricator !!! 500.00 i was so fuckin pissed. i was glad to get out of there! But on the bright side we had 3 PREDATORS FROM THE LAIR ON SCI FI !!! AND THAT WAS MY GOAL.
If you didn't see the last episode at least watch it for the very short part for the fight scene. i was pretty fun but i wont be doing that drama again for free.

I figured I would make a video for this thread for those who were or are not able to view the clip in/outside of the USA. I hope you like it and were able to see the brief media coverage that was asked of "The Priest" it is not long, but still pretty cool. (y)

Saw this crap whilst in the USA, and its a total embarrassment.

oh and FYI Painting something does not constitute MAKING IT,  BUYING something from someone does not constitute MAKING IT.

i am embarrassed for all involved................no wait. the are making the hobby look pathetic and not showing the work that a lot do. Car wreck train wreck whatever. no wonder the hobby gets looked down upon. screw em all, but while there are men out there who have not seen female genitals since birth these parasites will continue to get exposure, and others will jump on shows to ride along in their silicone wake.

pretty sad and pathetic.

and you can stick the word COSPLAY up your arse !  and then to add HEROEs.................seriously

i liked sharknado, it was far more believable.

That is one word i will never utter let alone type...... so glad i haven't watched the show. To be honest not sure if it is even screening here? Anyway i can't stand reality crap.

That words remind me of pre-teen girls dressing up in magna costumes.  What gets me is how YaYa seems to have taken it upon herself to turn it into "Ambassadors of C*****y"!  To me, an ambassador is supposed to represent someone/something, and this sad excuse for entertainment and the people on it  are far from doing that.  If I were a betting man, I would put my money on there not being a second season, but then I've said that about plenty of shows and been wrong about them.

As far as making an appearance on the show Priest, I wouldn't sweat it.  It was a cool little bit, and you guys represented well.  Sadly though, I fear people are going to look at your suit (and the others shown) and think it was put together the same way all the other crap on the show is.  At least we know, right? :)

Brian

Thanks Guan-Thwei THat was awesome you put that on there . i wanted to post something like that but i am afraid my sculpting skills are better than computer skils, And yes the show was a total mess DRAMA DRAMA DRAMA!Maybe they will pull there head out ass and fugure out what they need to make a better show !

That was really cool seeing the Predators' battle. I would've shown up earlier to the convention if I'd known you guys would be there. What pisses me off is, that there's really only snippets of Predator costumes. There's one shot I remember of a Predator just walking in front of the camera.

Wearing a Predator SUIT isn't "Costume Playing." It's ******* work, and I've been on the Lair long enough to know how much of a ******* workout it is to wear one of those suits. It's not a costume, it's not a generic "guise," no, it's a ******* S U I T. Anyway, I digress... sorry 'bout that.

So, to summarize, the show was a piece of **** misrepresentation of the community. Here's another shot of Yaya Han showing off her fake plastic boobs!!! Seriously, come on. Is that all this is, ****? I can look at porn for free.

Seriously, putting together a complicated character THREE days before the big show, crying about how if it doesn't work out you're gonna quit and all this other ********, and expecting it to turn out epic is just retarded. Honestly, I think that's why most people show off more skin than they should... because the costume sucks, and they need something to sell it to win whatever competition they're in. It's like working your ass off for months on a costume, only to enter a bar competition to lose to the chick who used "caution" tape to block out her naughty bits. It's like, "what the **** were you supposed to be?" And she's all "I'm the scene of the crime! Giggle giggle, hee hee." **** me druthers.

I'm glad the show is done. For now. It'll probably be back, though.

I also watched "Fangasm" tonight. I had to pretty much force myself through most of it. That is, until George Takei showed up, and who doesn't love him? Anyways, I watched further... up until Andrews' break-down. That struck a chord, and hit me really, really hard. Feels. That really hit home for me, and I was kind of biased about the whole situation. For one, SyFy was totally exploiting this kids hardships growing up. I wanted to the punch the **** right in the cock who thought this was a good idea to show. Because people are going to laugh, and make jokes about it... their going to make jokes about me, and most of you on here reading this. And more than likely, they're going to turn him into memes. I'm tempted to keep on watching the show, but I just don't know. One of the girls on the show made a comment while watching a bunch of strippers dressed up as Super Hero's, and it was something like "This is all exploitative. They're exploiting our hobby, and making it something it's not." Or something to that effect. Well... if that ain't the pot and the motherfucking kettle. **** you, SyFy.
