Help with Green Lantern Armor

First time poster, total noob.

I wanted to put together a Green Lantern costume.

I was thinking about using the plastic from empty green 3 liters bottles of soda
to build the armor (see below).

It is very difficult to work with because it constantly rolls up. I just tried heating it up
and that just creates bumps in the plastic.

I was hoping that someone could help me figure out what would be the best way to put these plastic pieces
together. Should I use a rivet gun? Should I use glue? Any help would really be appreciated.
