Help with finishing Luke's V2 lightsaber

I just received a boot stud for the mystery chunk. Shall I file off the rounded base of the stud? And shall I also file down the spikey top a bit?

I'm sarching for reference photos. I remember seeing quite a few quite recent photos a while ago but I cannot seem to find them. Can anyone point me in the right direction?

IS THIS A REAL STUD OR REPLICA? THE REAL ONES ARE COATED IN ZINC SO YOU HAVE TO REMOVE THAT BEFORE FILING THE EDGES. WOULDN'T HAVE TO WORRY ABOUT IT WITH A REPLICA. AS FOR THE SPIKES, I WOULDN'T TOUCH THOSE UNLESS YOU WERE GOING FOR A WORN DOWN STUD.

THERE'S A FEW THREADS, LET ME SEE IF I CAN'T FIND THEM...STAY TUNED

It's a real stud. I let left it fizzing in some vinegar for a few hours. And then I filed off the edges. I also sanded the spikes a bit. I like the worn look.

I have done som work on the emitter. I have some old stencils, from 2015 I think. I guess that more accurate and complete stencils are availible now. But this will do for now. I want to finish it.

I added a setscrew under the emitter lip as per wannawangas blue print. Should there also be one at the other side? The blue print does not show.

Yes, we are pretty sure there are two and they pinch the nipple, holding it in place, on the real prop.

This kit, the emitter is solid, so I would put them in and if they reach deep great! If not, don't worry, the nipple screws are enough to hold the tang.

An update on my progress. I am finished painting now. I used the old stencils I had, and on other areas I used som model kit liquid mask to create the chipped effect. But eager to finish the paint I totally forgot that the wind vane should be of another color. So I fixed that after taking the photo.

I have to finish the pommel now. I really want to give it that grey dull look, but I haven't managed to find any good (and easy) methods on how to do it.

I found the oven clean method. :) It worked well I think. I also made a few small dents in it and some thinned paint to dirty it up a bit. So the pommel is now finished.

I'll just have to assemble it and I will post some pictures of my finished V2.
