Help with AA TOS Enterprise

I don't know if this has been addressed here, but I have the new Art Asylum TOS Enterprise model and the cylindrical part that connects the base to the bottom of the ship split in two. And the piece in the center connected to the ship's underbelly is still stuck in place. So, now I can't display it unless it just lays on it's side like a dead fish. Can anyone here school me on a quick fix for this? Something even I can do? Pix attached.

Thanks for any advice you can give!

Yeah, I figured that. I'm at work right now, so I'll post some reference pix tonight. Thanks!

I think your options boil down to:

Option 1: pull the remaining part out of the bottom of the Enterprise with tweezers; use superglue to reassemble the pieces of the stand; allow time for the glue to dry, and hopefully it will work again.

Option 2: pull the remaining part out of the bottom of the Enterprise with tweezers; remove the bottom battery cover from the hull of the Enterprise; replace it with the alternate battery cover that came in the box (the one with no hole for the stand to go into). Then hang your model with fishing line.

Option 3 - buy another AA Enterprise and try not to break that one.

Good luck!

could make a new stand with some brass rod too. I never cared for the AA stands, I find them too distracting

Depending on "how stuck" it is in the hole tweexers might not work. If they don't try vice grips and/or pliers. If they doesn't work get a wood ot sheet metal "self tapping" screw drill a small one into the "plug" then screw the scelf tapping screw into the hole and use that as the pull point for the above methods.

Once you're done build another stand using some good Ole wood and brass rod the same diameter as the plug you pulled out (or perhaps a very tiny smidge smaller to avoid the "jamming"

Instead of wood you could try one of these bases...

Good luck,

If all else fails, drill a hole slightly bigger that the original. Then you'll just have to figure out something else (like a brass rod) and reconstruct the base using that.

I would say, see if you can knock the remains out of the battery cover from the other side to avoid scratching the paint. Then, find a peice of plastic tube to shim up the hole so that the stand can fit into it snuggly enough to keep it from flopping about.

I agree, replacing the base is the best way to go. AA's display base is kinda ugly. Those bases Jedi Dade linked to are very nice. :)
