I'm sculpting, actually, carving out a Senate Guard helmet out of a chunk of plaster and have a few reference pics, but none of the back.
Can anyone please help me out? I don't even mind if it is from one of the action figures, I'm just stuck at this point. Here's an early start of it, don't worry, it gets better. . .I hope :lol

Thanks,
Ely

Which Senate Guard helm are you doing? It looks like the one from ROTS. If so, I can take a pic of my action figure for ya.

Good luck. I'm getting ready to do a run of these and there's not a lot of reference out there other than the action figure. I did get a few good shots in response to my thread HERE. Best of luck with your project.

I thought noone responded to this and forgot to check. I don't know which one I want to do yet, leaning toward the ROTS one though. Thanks for the help guys.
I bought one of the small figures since this post, but still no help. Does anyone have the 12" figure that came in a two pack? Pics of the top of the head and back would be awesome.
Here's an update on the sculpt.

Yeah, is this the one from ROTS?

Thanks for the link. That's actually the figure that I recently purchased. I've looked closely at it, but it doesn't really show whether the center strip that the mohawk sits on (the "nose guard" strip) goes all the way back leaving an outline on either side of the mohawk or does it taper so that it disappears under the mohawk toward the back. Hopefully you guys got that :lol

OK, I know it's been a while, but I finally got back to this sculpt.
Here's what it looked like before:

Here's my progress today:

Again, this sculpt is made of Plaster of Paris. . . I got about a bag and a half in this guy already (the big Home Depot sized bags!).

Thanks Korbanth and clownluv15!
Yeah, it's a little wide on the shoulder areas, but I will take care of that a little more in my final sanding.
it seems wide to me..but its a great start
Here's a comp of my sculpt with a "symmetrical" Senate Guard helmet.
You can see that the width is prominent at the shoulder area.

I used basic wood carving tools found at Michaels, a hand saw, box cutters, rasps, drywall sandpaper and a hand sander, measuring tape, rubber gloves, and a pencil. Plus lots of reference pictures and patience:wacko :lol
That looks great!!!What tools do you use to work with the plaster?
