Unlimited Run Hellboy Samaritan (3D Printed Kit)

Re: Fully 3D Printed Hellboy Samaritan Kit

Nice one I thought it was for that, thanks for confirming, away to start on the kit tonight.

Update - http://img.tapatalk.com/d/14/05/10/nyja3yve.jpgWell I got it all assembled last night and planning the bondo stage today to fill all the gaps, but what a great kit and so easy to put together, highly recommended to all :)

Some Primer, need some fine sanding/bondo and it's good to paint i thinkhttp://img.tapatalk.com/d/14/05/13/a7a3esaq.jpg

How'd I miss this, looks freaking cool, I like that primer colour what is it? I'm going to stop using black I think...

Nice job!

PS - not sure if you want to paint the top of the stand bullets, I left mine clear for the LEDs to shine through...

Re: Fully 3D Printed Hellboy Samaritan Kit

Not sure if this will work but here goes a pic of my progress so far. Been fiddling around with a magnetic catch so hence the unfinished build.

Fully 3D Printed Hellboy Samaritan Kit

Thanks! Well I'm a big believer of Tamiya spray paints for 3D printed items however on this kit I decided to use a car body primer as it can be slightly thicker which I thought would help with any visible print layers, it has worked really well with only minor bondo and sanding to make it super smooth so no print layers are visible.. Well barely :)

With reference to the stand bullets, I was going to ask what everyone did whether to paint or not, I had an idea to paint a light coat of neon green but I'd hate to think the LEDs wouldn't shine through it.. so ye I think I will go with unpainted tips as well, the ones in the photo are the gun bullets incase your wondering =P

Just on the silver leaf stage at the moment for the weathering then I'll hit it with a gloss?/Matt? Black coat, which would you recommend?

I used flat black, but I'm no expert :)

Re: Fully 3D Printed Hellboy Samaritan Kit

Its not bad.. tbe latch is pretty secure as is but as its going to be cosplayed a fair bit it just gives some additional strength. Ive left the bar loose so it rotates with the release handle and moulded up the centre around the magnet so with a 1/4turn it unseats the catches ready for a 1 handed reload.

On a good day, about $2000 might get the 3d files, today is not one of those days

Re: Fully 3D Printed Hellboy Samaritan Kit

Been working on mine off and on this week getting close to getting all the filling done going to pick up some paint tomorrow. This is my first crack at doing a kit like this hopefully I can nail the painting on it. Having fun so far! IMG_2898.JPG

Looking good, glad you're liking it. Don't worry about the painting, if I can do it, anyone can ;)

^^^ Wow! That stand set it off looks great!!

I have a few questions about paint for you guys who are done, I picked up Tamiya primer today and will have to hunt around for hobby stores that have more colors they didn't have any black. Does anyone have experience with Testors brand? I used it back in the day on model ships etc but how about this type of project? I just did a first pass with primer today here is how everything looks now. IMG_2911.JPG

Re: Fully 3D Printed Hellboy Samaritan Kit

I'm getting close to finishing, just need to finish the paint job and the leather braid and fingers crossed it's all done, the stand I have decided to make it rechargeable with a dc plug, I hate replacing batteries and can run the stand directly from a wall socket.

Looks good, on my prototype, I used cheap walmart $1.00 primer and paint, with some testors for the grips and weathering. I think almost anything (oil based) will work

Ahh great! Good to know I grabbed some flat black and going to grab some silver when ready to do the weathering. Not sure if I should do the base coat silver then black over and weather or just weather with silver highlights. Ahh well either way its been a learning experience!!

I did flat black then drybrushed silver, but everyone has their own way...
